The Brown Hotel
   Louisville, Kentucky

Ornate detail, exceptional service and long-standing tradition of hospitality have made The Brown beloved by visitors and locals alike. The 16-story classically rendered exterior is complemented by stunning English Renaissance architectural detail on the interior, including spectacular hand-painted plaster relief ceilings. The construction of a lavish theater and professional building adjacent to the hotel helped secure its position as a vital Louisville landmark. Despite weathering financial downturns, economic blight and natural disaster, the hotel’s spirit and gracious demeanor have only been enhanced over the years. In fact, when owner J. Graham Brown was forced to default on his loan during the Great Depression, the intensely loyal staff continued to work without pay. It is this legacy of impeccable service and commitment to excellence that have made The Brown one of the South’s legendary hotels.

The famous “Hot Brown” sandwich was invented in 1926 for guests who were hungry after an evening of dancing. It has been featured on the TODAY Show, in the Wall Street Journal and numerous food and dining magazine.
