New Sheridan Hotel
   Telluride, Colorado

Since 1895 the hotel has welcomed miners, settlers, and adventure seekers. If you stand quietly in the hotel entrance, you might just get a sense of times past or feel the ghost of an old-timer brush by. Like Telluride, Colorado itself, the New Sheridan Hotel was built with the riches of gold and silver mined from the imposing peaks of the surrounding San Juan mountain range. Today, the New Sheridan Hotel draws upon its mining and adventurous past as it offers new levels of service and comfort along with old-fashioned Western hospitality.

Both the town and the hotel sprang up during the early days of the American West. The original Sheridan Hotel was a three-story wooden structure destroyed by fire in 1894. The New Sheridan Hotel, rebuilt (in brick) in the Victorian style, was reopened in 1895. A detailed renovation in 1995 reinstated this historic treasure to its former glory and added the renowned New Sheridan Chop House and additional rooms.

The New Sheridan Hotel exhibits the work of renowned New York artist Roger Mason, who paints in bright pigments with lively brushstrokes, capturing the emotional core of an experience as it is happening.  His work is also in the private collections of celebrities.
