The Omni Shoreham Hotel
   Washington, District of Columbia

A true Washington institution, the Omni Shoreham has hosted inaugural balls for every president from FDR to Bill Clinton. To celebrate its ties to America’s highest office, the hotel’s nine presidential suites each bear the name of one of our great leaders. (Guests who express strong feelings may request to have the name plate on their suite changed.) The Shoreham’s elegant charm, comfortable guest rooms and distinguished meeting space draw travelers from the world over. In fact, the hotel’s guest rooms were constructed with the needs of the long-term guest in mind and they remain the largest sleeping rooms in the Washington area.

The hotel sits on eleven acres adjoining Rock Creek Park and offers wonderful views of the park and the nearby National Cathedral. Just down Connecticut Avenue sits the National Zoo, one of the city’s favorite attractions. Head south down the same street and you’ll find the diverse neighborhoods of Adams Morgan and Dupont Circle, as well as Washington’s financial, entertainment and shopping district. With easy access to Metro’s red line, the Smithsonian museums, National Archives, Library of Congress and Capitol Hill are just a few minutes away.

In 1933, the hotel was outfitted with a special ramp and elevator to accommodate the needs of President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
