The Portland Regency Hotel is Portland’s premier full-service hotel, boasting first-class elegance and outstanding service. Situated in the heart of the "Old Port District", the hotel is surrounded by a variety of specialty shops, galleries and restaurants which have been converted from the warehouses and commercial buildings that were original to the city’s maritime heritage.  With the exception of added skylight windows, the building’s exterior has been preserved and the highly detailed fireplaces, turreted corners and windows of many shapes and sizes add singular character to the  guest rooms.

As of the summer of 2004, the Portland Regency Hotel, has been converted to a completely smoke-free environment. The property’s 95 guest rooms, meeting and function space, restaurant, bar and spa are now smoke-free. This is but one aspect of plans to upgrade the Regency.  Other recent improvements refurbishing  many guest rooms and the opening of a day spa facility featuring the very latest in healing massage therapy, body treatments, and skin and nail therapy. The new spa also includes new Jacuzzis® , sauna's  and a steam bath.

At the turn of the 20th century, the armory's drill hall was a popular civic auditorium and hosted to the Maine Music Festival.
