The American Club Resort Hotel
   Kohler, Wisconsin

This landmark Tudor-style building was originally built to provide lodging for immigrant laborers who came to work at the Kohler Co., producers of plumbing fixtures and fine furnishings. Walter J. Kohler, Sr., himself an immigrant's son, built the Tudor-style residence and named it The American Club in the hope that its high standards and patriotic emphasis would instill in its residents a love of their new country. A detailed restoration and renovation in 1981 created today's acclaimed resort and conference hotel, including the renowned golf courses of Whistling Straits and Blackwolf Run.
