The Colony Hotel is just an hour north of Boston, off I-95 via Route 1, along Ocean Avenue, with its turn-of-the-century shingle-style "summer homes." A one-mile walk delivers you in a picturesque riverside village of art galleries and shops. There are seven tennis courts near the hotel, and an 18-hole golf course within three miles. Sailing, fishing, whale watching, kayaking and canoeing, parasailing, excursions and charters, wildlife preserves and interpretative trails, art galleries, gift shops, bookstores and boutiques are all within easy reach of the Colony.
Historic Dock Square is one mile away, offering an abundance of restaurants from casual to formal, art galleries and boutique shopping. The Trolley Museum, miles of beaches, Cape Porpoise Lobstering Harbor and two summer playhouses are all within a ten-mile radius.
