Few communities reflect California’s distinctly diverse, relaxed and friendly personality like the coastal town of Ventura.  Known as the gateway to the Channel Islands National Park, Ventura has long been a weekend retreat for those seeking an escape from nearby Los Angeles.  The inn was completed in 1910 and was intended to draw the growing breed of automobile drivers venturing up and down the coast.  Since 1928, this 11-acre resort has been owned and operated by members of the Vickers family who have lovingly maintained its historical integrity, recalling California’s Arts and Crafts heritage and relaxed style.

Mrs. Pierpont intended the inn to serve as a future management career for her son, Austen.
