  • What happened to the Ames?!

    by Greg P on 2017-12-09 01:36 pm

This used to be my favorite hotel. The nice hotel I rolled out when I brought my wife to town. The rooms seem to be missing a lot of things... Rug, chair, any wallhangings. We stayed on the third floor the first night and the street noise was very loud. The staff did move us up to the eighth for the next night and it was much better.

  • Lovely historic building,

I chose this hotel because of its proximity to the theatre and our friends. Tiny reception area where we were warmly greeted as a Hilton's Gold member. I received an upgrade to a upper quiet floor, which was soacious and full of light. Bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom amenities were Moulton Brown. Could have had a better coffee maker. Snacks were complimentary and we enjoyed them with a cocktail. Fully stocked refrig if case you wanted a beverage. All in all it was an excellent choice and we would return

  • Modern boutique hotel in prime location

    by Tom L on 2017-12-04 10:16 am

The Ames exceeded all our expectations. Perfect location, excellent service, fabulous bathroom with a huge tun, pleasant breakfast room, modest price for the upscale Boston hotel market. In particular, Derek the doorman and a female server in the breakfast room were charming and helpful. It feels like a European boutique hotel, but our large room had high ceilings and a great view of court street.

  • Superb

If you are looking for a stylish contemporary hotel with excellent customer service and everything on your doorstep then this is for you. The hotel itself is beautiful and very tastefully decorated. My husband and I were lucky enough to have a room with a the largest deepest bath I have ever experienced in a hotel. It was like something from a Roman spa. The combination of the marble surround and Crabtree & Evelyn complimentary toiletries was sheer luxury. It may be worth mentioning that the bath and overhead shower is separated from the bedroom by a glass wall with a curtain for privacy. You can control the lighting in the bathroom, but it may be worth bearing in mind. Our room at the front of the building also overlooked offices opposite, so again if you wanted privacy in the daytime, you had to pull the curtains across.
The room itself was beautiful with soft pillows and a really comfortable bed and the heating was very easy to regulate. Despite it's position it was lovely and quiet too.
The service from the staff was impeccable from the porter, to the reception staff to the housekeeping team. I asked for some extra things for the room and a short while later the front desk rang to see if they had been delivered and was everything ok. That to me was a lovely touch.
I can't comment on the restaurant as I ate out. Being in the heart of Boston and a short walk from Quincy Market and the Waterfront etc, you are spoilt for choice in terms of what to do and where to eat. I would certainly stay here again if I was to ever come back to Boston and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others as well.
