There is a limitless variety of outdoor pursuits available on Basin Harbor Club’s sprawling 700 acres, including many ways to skim across Lake Champlain. Choose a canoe, rowboat, small outboard, sunfish, paddleboat, windsurfer or kayak and head out—or enjoy the easy indulgence of a deck chair on the Club’s day sailer. Water skiing is available each afternoon. No stay is complete without surveying Lake Champlain from the deck of the Dynamyte II, a 40-foot tour boat.
Fishermen will find perch, bass, northern pike, salmon and lake trout in abundance. Private fishing charters can also be arranged. Basin Harbor Club boasts two Har-Tru tennis courts and three all-weather courts. The tennis professional is on hand for lessons and clinics, and will find games for players of all levels of expertise. The fitness center offers cardiovascular equipment in the event the weather is bad, and if the sun is shining, joggers can lose themselves on miles of country lanes. Basin Harbor’s lakeside 18-hole golf course has been a top destination for discerning golfers since 1927. Players are treated to stunning scenery and the occasional glimpse of Vermont wildlife as the course winds over the gentle rolling hills of the Champlain valley through natural woods and open areas. It is an expansive and demanding, 6,500-yard course with small and medium contoured greens, 48 bunkers and bent-grass turf. A wide variety of educational options are also scheduled, including lectures on horticulture, history and environmental topics and garden tours. Musical entertainment includes ballroom dancing, line and square dancing, classical duos and jazz groups. Storytellers, bridge, bingo and movies all have their devotees.
