    I was not pleased at all with my stay, and i am not one to complain. Going to start with my main issue, the shower was ICE cold, even at 1030 at night. Also the maid came into my room at 10am (of which we HAVE NOT checked out of) right after i got out of the shower. These two things just topped off the other small issues i had: 1. I should've had king bed and got two double beds of which i was not notified of at check in i found out when i walked in the room. Already had all my stuff at the door and could not get a hold of the front desk from the phone in my room, so i was not going to changes rooms at that point. 2. the room comes with two complimentary water bottles, of which one was half drank! GROSS! 3. the wifi did not reach my room. 4. the batteries in the remote we dying so the remote was hard to work, tried again calling the front desk for new batteries and no answer. Thankfully i had my own batteries with me. 4. as mentioned before, COLD SHOWER! both of us had to take cold showers, 1030pm and 9am. I could understand the 9am it might not get super hot because others are probably taking showers at the same time, but 1030pm was a little ridiculous. and 5. the maid walking in at 10am! that what the topping on all the other issues. 6. after attempting to call the front desk from my room phone about 10-15 times with no answer, finally decided to try calling from my cell phone, still had to wait on hold for 10+ minutes of which i just hung up. Finally received a call back about an hour later from the front desk, the man i spoke with was nice and offered me 10% off my room price, which i accepted however i asked to still speak with a manager, he advised that the manager was not in until 3pm and that he would leave my name and number for the manager to call me at that time. It is now the following day and i still have not received a call from the manager!!!!!

    I just love the ambience of the Bear Mountain Inn, the rustic d?cor, the dining room with its stone fireplace, it really speaks to me. Our room in the main inn was fairly recently renovated and beautifully decorated, the bed was comfortable and everything was very clean. Unfortunately, our room had no view and practically no window (the "window" was on ground level and at the end of a long narrow shed dormer - if you stand up, you will hit your head!). Best to check on this before booking, I believe they have other rooms in the main inn with normal windows. The staff was very pleasant and helpful at all times. Unfortunately, the restaurant cannot handle its guests and long waits appear to be the norm. I have experienced this on day trips, but expected better for overnight guests. I do not believe it is the fault of the staff at all, but rather, that the restaurant is not stocked with enough food for the guests, so there are many empty tables in the dining room while people are waiting to be seated. Also, the food, once you get it, is mediocre and overpriced. Breakfast is included with your stay, which is positive, although the offerings there could also be better. On the plus side, hiking trails are right outside your door. There is ice skating and a carousel on the premises. The walk around Hessian Lake is soul satisfying. The Bear Mountain Zoo is lovely and a nice walk from the Inn. The building itself is magnificent in rustic charm. If only visiting for the day on the weekend, be sure to get there EARLY, as the parking lot fills up. I love this Inn, always will, but I hope they can make some improvements to accommodate the needs of their guests.

  • Great park and Inn

    Great place to stay - rooms were clean and very nice. Only thing - food was not good at all. Need to change menu choices - better chef - The breakfast - I couldn't eat it. Other than that it was a very enjoyable stay.

We are also looking at how to upgrade the continental breakfast even more from eggs, sausage, fruit, yogurt, cereal and breakfast bagels and pastries.     No TV service and the food was not good at the Sat. evening event. Please read my previous comments. The food at the Sat. event was not good and only the chicken fingers and french fries at the kids buffet was edible and acceptable.

  • Unacceptable. Do not stay at the lodges. The towels were dirty, the tv had poor reception, there was no phone.

    You could not control the temperature, the towels were dirty, there was mold in the vent, no phones in the room, no cell service in the room, parking was far from the cabin, lightbulbs were out, the clock didn't work. Cannot give a bad enough review. Will never return.
