  • Large rooms, great location. Could use an update

    As the title says, the rooms are spacious and the location is great for visiting downtown Washington DC. I appreciated the fact that there were allergy filters in the room, but this only partially combated the ancient-looking carpet in the room. Both my wife and I awoke with allergy problems every morning.

    The bathroom is also very small and the shower has the lowest water pressure of any shower i've used. If they updated the bathroom and replaced the carpet, this would be a great hotel.As-is, it's not bad and the location makes it worthwhile.

  • Quite possibly the worst Hilton experience I've ever had

    Not a good venue for business stays. The conference rooms have been either too hot or freezing, Note, this isn't just my taste, but everyone, and it is disruptive to the presentations. They just can't seem to control the environment.

    The network is flaky in the business areas and it isn't clear how to access.

    They have a gym, but you have to pay extra for access and it has poor hours of operation, opening late and closing early.

    The place is old, run down, and appears to be strapped for cash. It seems they are passing that poor experience on to the consumer.

    Further, they have teams of teenagers also here for an event. They are running all over the floors without any supervision. They shout at all hours of the night. Haven't seen management address.

    Probably best to avoid this Hilton.

    I wish I could leave right now, but I am trapped until this conference ends ...

  • Standard big-city Hilton. No complaints.

    I was a guest here for a weekend in January 2018. The rate was quite nice considering it was a snowy weekend in Washington. I've stayed here many times before, and I have to admit it's a very solid property.

    You will experience better service here than most Hiltons in D.C., especially the Washington Hilton. But there are a few items that could use improvement.

    The room is perfect. It's elegant and nicely appointed. But online checkin doesn't work. Out of 200+ rooms available, only 2 were available for online checkin. The rest were "upgraded" rooms. The hotel was virtually empty when I checked in. I ended up in a nice room, but the whole Hilton online checkin experience is just one big up-sell.

    The room was quite nice, but be aware. The fitness center is an additional charge. If you are like me and travelling on a government rate, this isn't included. My agency wouldn't reimburse me, so please keep that in mind. The internet was included for Hhonors members at about 2 Mbps. Above that requires a payment.

    The TV was adequate, but it wouldn't allow for an external input. The location was perfect. It's between two Metro stations. Uber/Lyft was also easy here, as there is a offsite pickup.

    Overall this is a great property, but it helps if you have Hilton status or are paying a high rate. Otherwise, it's about the same level as a Garden Inn or Hampton. Both of which are readily available in the DC area.

  • Just ok

    Pros: GREAT location, nice staff, nice lobby

    Cons: hallways look rundown, room smelled like mold (with tinges of sewer at times), could hear EVERYTHING in the hallway from my room, gym isn't free, internet is SLOOOWWWWWWWWW, so slow in fact it's almost not even worth using

    Overall, for the price I got ($88/night) I can't complain (too much). The old adage holds true though: you get what you pay for. More than $100 per night off season (Feb), I would not have paid and surely could have done better. In fact, the Hyatt is just across the street...

  • Fantastic Location with Understated Class

    This hotel is in a fantastic location with public transport and lovely restaurants within easy reach. It is central to many of the sights with the President as a nearby neighbour. The hotel has a slightly dated charm about it but is very comfortable with excellent service. All of the staff members were welcoming and nothing was too much trouble.
