  • Exceptional Hospitality, Stunning Amenities, Delicious Food make you never want to leave!

by KimberlySialiano on 2017-10-04 09:15 am

My husband and I spent a spectacular weekend at the Castle Hotel in September 2017, and we will treasure our time here forever.

From the minute we walked in, the front desk staff (Ebonni and Christiana) welcomed us like we were part of their family. They were courteous, knowledgeable, and extremely professional. Throughout our stay we called them several times, and they always went above and beyond to meet our requests.

The suite we stayed in was immaculate- the classical music playing on the bose speakers when we walked in, the tasteful decor, the bath amenities and the unbelievably comfortable/luxurious bed - you truly never want to leave the room.

The impeccably kept grounds and beautiful architectural details, however, will draw you out. Instagram worthy shots are around nearly every corner, and you could get lost exploring the gorgeous rooms throughout the Castle. The pool is truly an oasis, and the Hudson River view is the cherry on top. I wish I had the opportunity to book something at the Spa, but just being on the property in and of itself was so relaxing; this place instantly provides a respite from the craziness of everyday life. I still can't get over the fact that it is less than an hour from NYC.

We ended our stay with a delicious prix fixe brunch on the patio, which was fit for a King & Queen. The service was great, even if on the slower side, but the food was well worth the wait and we were more than happy to stay at the Castle every bit longer. Lastly, we had the opportunity to meet the General Manager Lloyd Nakano, and it is easy to understand why the Castle has become such a world class institution. Perhaps the Castle's greatest asset, Mr. Nakano is a kind and fascinating man, and I could have spoken to him for hours; I felt like we were in great hands and he epitomizes the definition of hospitality.

I will certainly make staying at the Castle Hotel a tradition, and look forward to my return! There is simply nothing like it in the area.

    Hello Kimberly and Robert!

How are you? Once again congratulations and thank you for sharing your happiness with us here at the Castle! It was a pleasure to meet your family and especially so since as you wrote "brunch" it was already 3 o'clock in the afternoon! I hope you all enjoyed the fine weather!

It takes "two to tango" and we could not have made the day memorable for you were you also not flexible and understanding. You helped me help you! The results speak for themself! I was glad it turned out so beautifully!

Let me know when you'll be back! Lots of new memories waiting to be made!

  • Beautiful place to stay!

    by BobC558 on 2017-09-18 10:47 am

This is a lovely place to stay when visiting the Tarrytown area. While it is pricey, the rooms are spacious and nicely furnished, and the setting couldn't be more romantic - it is like living in a castle for a night or two!

    Dear Bob C,

Thank you for your review! We're pleased you enjoyed a romantic getaway here in Tarrytown and at the Castle. With only 31 rooms in all, the standard rooms sell-out virtually every weekend from Valentine's week through Christmas. Weekdays are a lot more competitive as we are not so much a "corporate" hotel as we are a "getaway" and more often than not, a place where special occasions and celebrations are observed.

Still, we always strive to deliver value and to exceed your expectations. If we failed in any way, I sincerely apologize.

    Regards,

    Lloyd Nakano

  • Luxurious amenities but overrated restaurant

by LarryRuth on 2017-08-29 04:50 am

This is one of the best appointed luxury hotels. Even the most basic room has well thought out fixtures and layout. The suites are even better but pricey. We found the dining room a little overrated, with a repetitive menu. Excellent staff.

  • Needs attention

    by CGNY26 on 2017-08-27 03:58 am

Setting is lovely. We were there in wedding season so the hotel had a captive audience with so many weddings. But that does not mean you can get away with very high prices for mediocre standards. Front desk staff were ambivalent. Wait staff were poorly trained. Buffet breakfast was not good and badly served. Rooms were large and needed a refresh. You could overlook some issues with a well-trained attentive staff and a higher level of cleanliness. The hotel could be delightful but right now they are falling well below the standard expected.

    Owner Response
    Dear CGNY26,

Thank you very much for your timely commentary here on Trip Advisor. Once Easter kicks off the high season and as June ushers in the wedding season, you're right; we're guilty of putting on blinders with our head's down thinking "full-charge ahead!!!"

We lose sight of immediacy, we're focused on "getting through the peak season. Mediocrity, inadequate training, stress, and exhaustion overtake spontaneity, attentiveness, and empathetic response to guests needs.

I apologize for disappointing you during your visit in August. If your plans bring you through Tarrytown again please allow me to make it up to you. Please contact me at:

  • Buyer Beware!

    by nancywS91PG on 2017-08-13 00:55 am

Declining services regretfully characterized recent stay.Almost totally empty hotel marked by only mediocre food, amateurish service, and so so accommodationso diluted effects of beautiful setting. Worst: questionable and likely fraudulent billing which has yet to be resolved. On second and last visit, only one other guests in hotel The dishonesty on the part of the staff that continues and the general tenor of all aspects of this hotel which reflects neither it's prices nor purported caliber of this hotel for me spell NEVER AGAIN..probably why found $600 room on Internet last weekend for $159! Buyer Beware!
