  • A Must Go

by BostonERdoc on 2018-04-21 12:23 am

I am writing this about the restaurant. Never stayed in the Inn.

There is just something about dining and having an ale in the same room that the Sons of Liberty used to plan the rebellion against the British that led to the Revolutionary war, AND be in the same town and less than a mile away from where the first shots of the American Revolution were fired, April 19, 1775 at the 'Ol North Bridge. You can dine or have an ale in these very small, creaking and uneven, wooden rooms in the oldest part of the Inn where quite literally the likes of John Hancock, Samuel Adams, Paul Revere also ate and drank.

The food is typical pub food with a few "what they ate back then" items thrown in. Not a Michelin moment but very good. The whole thing....history...ambiance...micro-brew ales...good food.....makes it a must go!

  • Reservations Didn't Matter.

    by Richard J on 2018-03-01 03:05 am

Very disappointing to have made reservations A FULL 6 MONTHS IN ADVANCE in the MAIN ORIGINAL BUILDING and the upon arrival I was told there were no rooms available in the Main Building and we would be put in an outbuilding overlooking the rear parking lot. To make matters worse a couple that was given priority over myself to check in had the very same issue and were told that they too had no reservation in the main building but could have a room in an annex. They argued with the clerk and he gave them the original room in the MAIN BUILDING that I had reserved! I showed him my printed confirmation that I had made 6 months prior, but he would not honor it. The only redeeming experience was that Kim Stack apologized for the other front desk person and credited my account for the room charges. In Texas we call this "bait and switch" and it is highly illegal.
We were so excited when we saw the beautiful historic building from the Front street. It is a beautiful view out from the building overlooking the main streets and other historical buildings. I am sure that if we were given the room promised that we would have enjoyed our stay.
The hostess was not very attentive when we asked about dining options and availability, but rather seemed to be more focused on her cellphone and personal grooming. She was obviously agitated and reluctantly showed us the bar and dining areas. We finally did met the hostess for the large formal dining area and were treated quite respectfully. Our meals were first class and our wait person was excellent. Everything on the menu looked delicious and our meals were fabulous.
There is no better location in Concord. The Inn is dead center or just a short drive to all of the historic attractions, post office and many other eateries. Many shops are just beside or included in the many adjacent blocks.
I will try again next year to give the Inn a second chance to make a best impression. I will be making reservations once again and hope for the best, thanks to Kim Stack..

  • Old England in New England

    by Flemming N on 2018-02-05 11:42 am

Very charming Place in a very Lovely Little Town - Concord is a gem and this is the right Place to stay in, where you can enjoy also the heritage where you live. Cosy labyrinth of rooms, bars, restaurants and sitting room. Staff friendly and helpful. Only thing stopping top rating is the breakfast system - included in room price is a 10$ breakfast voucher, which really does not take you anywhere. The breakfast menu is a bit too American, Heavy dishes most of it. Why not introduce a version of Continental breakfast with a lighter touch?

  • Hot toddies and Irish Coffee after a winter stroll in town

    by Rita V on 2018-01-28 10:55 am

So charming! NEVER been here, in my 30 years! Walked in for an Irish Coffee after a cool stroll around Concord. Not the best I've had, actually pretty "ok". The place is a MAZE! But the people are nice, the vibe is sooooo welcoming, and I admit some of the plates of food coming out, were tempting.

Live band Friday and Saturday. I think we want to come and stay a night for music and toddy!!!
