We had a wonderful winter get away. I am so thankful for the front desk staff. They took such good care of us. If you haven't checked this hotel out you should! We had dinner in the restaurant and it was wonderful!

We had a wonderful weekend celebrating my sister's wedding. The entire staff at the Eagle Mountain House are exceptional. It's a charming historic hotel with gorgeous mountain views. The food was also excellent. We will certainly be back!

    Hi Sara,

That certainly was a special event your sister and family celebrated this month. The weather even cooperated with some fresh snow to give that special winter glow. Our location is perfect for a winter wedding in the quaint village of Jackson surrounded by the beautiful White Mountains.

I will share your comments above the food and service you enjoyed during your stay and we look forward to seeing you soon.

  • Beautiful place

Had a very pleasant stay at Eagle Mountain House on our New England roudtrip.
The hotel looks spectacular on the outside with really nice surroundings

Friendly staff and nice rooms. Could use a little bit of a renovation but the old hotel also has a a lot of charm.

Great to hear that you enjoyed your stay at the Eagle Mountain House. All seasons are special in the White Mountains and the scenic Jackson area. I hope you can bring that little person on your shoulder back this summer for a visit to the very popular StoryLand which is just a short drive away or to explore the hiking trails in the mountains.

    Hope to see you soon,

  • Great mid-week get away with snow shoeing

by jgkrieger on 2018-02-24 01:58 am

A wonderful few days relaxing, snow shoeing, awesome buffet breakfast. The staff and service is impeccable as you would expect from a top rated inn of the mount Washington valley. We have been coming here for 20+ years and it still exudes the warmth and comfort off a country inn. We plan on coming for many years to come

    Hello Jgkrieger,

Twenty years as a guest....we are fortunate to have such a loyal patron. It was nice to hear that you enjoyed your recent stay at the hotel and had some great days of snow shoeing. That activity is becoming quite popular and as you know being able to walk on to the trail system right from our front door is quite special.

Thank you for staying with us, we look forward to having you return.

  • Ski Vacation Extraordinaire!

by nancyacheevers on 2018-02-23 01:07 pm

We stayed at The Eagle Mountain House during February vacation week. It was an extraordinary experience in skiing, comfort, food, and friendliness. And--it was very reasonable for such an amazing location and quality of service. Firstly, the EMH is located in the midst of the best skiing in the Northeastern United States. The inn is surrounded by towering mountains and close to several downhill ski areas and situated directly in the middle of the Jackson Ski Touring facility--the #1 best nordic ski center in the Northeast. (Rating not mine--it's been rated by Nordic Ski organizations.) Walk out the front door and pop on your classic cross-country skis or your skaters and ski for miles in absolute blissful scenery--towering mountain, babbling brooks, roaring rivers, and rolling hills or flats--as you choose. We are big skiers--so this place is truly special for just that reason--but there is more!
The rooms are very comfortable--you can open a window, adjust the heat, and turn the bathroom fan off and on. (I always appreciate being able to control my environment!) Plenty of pillows, brand new mattresses, cozy down comforters, and lovely high thread count sheets are just part of the comfort in our room. Clean bathroom, lots of hot water, bottled water delivered daily, a nice big tv, closet space, and a cozy chair in which to cuddle up and read my book. If you are looking for the "Astoria" it is not that--but it is very comfortable, attractively decorated, and the views out the windows are not so bad either! If you like mountains, sunsets or rises, snow covered hills to greet you in the morning hours--this is the place for you! An afternoon repose in the front parlor with a game of Scrabble, Cribbage, or a good book is a wonderful way to end an day. I look forward to sitting on the beautiful front porch in the summer--the many rocking chairs face Eagle Mountain and are worth a good, long sit and perhaps a glass of wine or a cocktail!
Speaking of food--the inn has a casual tavern and a larger, slightly more formal dining room called Highfields. The dinner menu has an excellent variety--and includes a couple of "signature dishes" that are simply divine: Pan Seared Scallops are served with warm persimmon chutney, roasted parsnips, roasted beets, borloti beans and a butternut squash puree. Pure delish! The Stuffed Pork Tenderloin is beautifully prepared--brined in cider, surrounded by bacon and stuffed with asian pear stuffing, and served with maple mustard and bourbon glaze--this one is to "die for." I don't even EAT PORK and it is this good. My son ordered it and I may have been converted into a pork lover. There is a comfort food section, sandwiches and burgers, and some lovely shared plates as well. The onion soup is the best around--and the wings are pretty special to according the discerning taste of the family wing lover. Finally--the BEST salad is the Baby Kale Salad, which has real toasted hazelnuts and cider poached figs. They had me at the cider poached figs. Salad lovers will be very happy with this artful preparation.
Finally, the managers, hosts, hostesses, servers, housekeeping staff, and front desk clerks are all so very friendly, helpful, accommodating, and happy. Yes--they are happy people who like their jobs--which is important to me. I want to know that people are treated well--and of course I do not know all the details--but I would guess that the owner cares about them.
The Eagle Mountain House is the inn of choice for us--and we will be back next year, and for many years to come. This is a truly special place in which you can reconnect with your children, your spouse, and yourself. You can get close to nature--and enjoy the comforts of home with the special perks of being at an inn that truly cares about its visitors!
