  • Grand It Is!

    by TopKat2010 on 2018-06-21 11:52 am

The Grand Hotel should be on everyone's bucket list. It's a one of a kind hotel in a one of a kind location. This island is on the top rated destination locations in the nation and perhaps the world. The hotel is filled with charm and class. This is the location where "Somewhere In Time" was filmed in 1981. It has been fun learning something new each time we visit. It may cost you more that planned; but it is definitely unforgettable!

  • Wonderful Visit

After departing the ferry, we headed for the Grand Hotel a historic hotel. In order to access the grounds a $10.00 fee per person is charged. The $10.00 was deducted from our lunch in The Grand Dining Room where a buffet lunch was served. If you plan on going for lunch go early before tour groups arrive. The buffet was average with many selections, cold, hot and desserts.
The room takes you back in time with the green and white striped chairs and flowered curtains.
We enjoyed the views from the hotel of the grounds and water. We enjoyed the Cupola Bar with panoramic views of the Straits of Mackinac and beautiful grounds. The cocktails are made to perfection and staff is professional and friendly. Highly recommend. We enjoyed the day.

  • A piece of Grand Hotel

    by vette079 on 2018-06-20 11:51 am

We had another wonderful two night stay in May. If you can do it, two nights is the way to go. We watch for their special per person limited dates and like it when they have two nights one after another. If you want a piece of Grand Hotel even if you don't stay there. They have a Outlet Store located behind The Gate House, Sushi Bar next to The Tuxedo Rental Shop. There are all kinds of things once used in the Grand Hotel. From clothing to room items to dining room items and etc. I bought a polo shirt in nice shape. Kind of a rummage sale Everything is offered at half price. I don't think many people know it's there. You can get a piece of Grand Hotel at a fair price.

  • Wonderful 25th Anniversary Dinner

    by Joseph H on 2018-06-20 09:37 am

We had a fantastic dinner here on our 15th wedding anniversary, so decided to return on our 25th, and it was perfect! Our five course dinners were delicious and served efficiently as we dined leisurely. Dinner is in a formal setting, with men required to wear coats and ties. It was fun to dress up and be pampered. The dinner is one price with options for all courses except the salad. Alcohol and soda is extra. There are photographers outside the dining room who are happy to take your photo on the porch of the hotel if you desire. We rode to the hotel in a horse drawn carriage/taxi which was on $5 per person from our hotel in the downtown section of the island. We were married on Mackinac Island and love returning to the Grand Hotel for special occasions. Superb dinner!

I think it's the most spectacular hotel that I ever stayed at.
It's like stepping back in time 130 years everything is like brand new. They gave us the President Teddy Roosevelt "lodge" Suite! There were number of rooms where famous people stayed like Jane Seymour had a suite as well and other famous stars ?
This is where the greatest romance movie at all times Somewhere in time was filmed . The make the story short , there's no experience in the world like staying at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island ??? #vilmavitug #vilmajennings
