The setting for most meals at Greyfield Inn is the lovely main dining room, decorated as it was when Margaret Carnegie Ricketson entertained her friends and family here in the early years of the last century. Dining at Greyfield Inn is an event where guests gather in the candlelit dining room for a three-course gourmet experience, men in jackets, women in comparable attire. Dinner menus offer creative American cuisine with a Southern flair, accompanied, if desired, by a selection from the historic inn’s excellent wine list.
Guests start their day in southern-style with a hearty meal of breakfast meats, fruit, homemade muffins fresh from the oven and eggs, pancakes or one of the chef’s specialties. Lunch comes packed in a picnic basket, perfect to take to the beach, on a bicycle excursion, or no further than the historic inn’s veranda. All meals are included in the room rate.
Complimentary hors d’oeuvres are served daily during the cocktail hour, and guests enjoy unlimited non-alcoholic beverages, fruit, and snacks throughout the day. Greyfield Inn’s bar is well stocked, open 24 hours and operates on the honor system. Complimentary wine is served on Sundays.
Greyfield Inn is Cumberland Island’s only public facility. There are no other dining or entertainment establishments on the island.
