  • middle of it all with tiny roads and no parking = congestion!

by HikingTom on 2017-12-09 11:50 am

Right across from the ivy covered walls of the ancient and honorable school, the Inn probably dates back to some pre-historic time no doubt. That being said its been converted from a home to a standard style hotel but cannot outgrow its footprint due to the expanse of the campus and surrounding buildings. Clean relatively modern except no usb charging outlets on the sockets so millenials are advised wisely bring your own adapters. I had a king room and asked for something quiet and so was placed on the upper floor at the end of the hall, I think facing the inside or rear, NOT across from the 'green' since that Pleasant st is busy all hours and especially early AM. The decor is typical new england cliche and quaint, a table but no business 'desk' or chair, the bath was very modern with a shower, but terrible shower head however. There's no overnight street parking in Hanover apparently unless your the king so you must valet. Nothing is closer surely to the campus but there are alternatives on 120 and further down by the highway. There are places to eat on main street and otherwise, the Pine restaurant in the hotel itself was over-priced and pretentious, instead of burgers and pizza or cheese-stakes you'd expect of a college themed inn, it offered octopus and other un-tantalizing items. Staff were all pleasant and helpful. Traffic has become a wretched nightmare and it takes 20 minutes to get from the hotel onto a road that moves at 8 a so plan wisely.

  • Problems at a great location

    by g0ldengut on 2017-11-12 04:04 am

While the Inn has the charms one might expect of an historic New England Inn, there are some problems. The heating system feeding my room had an odor that smelled a bit like sewage, as though there were a sewer-gas leak somewhere in the building that feeds into the heating ducts. If it was not gases of that nature, then it was the odor of an aging heating system that perhaps needs some updating. It was not overwhelming, but a nuisance that affected the whole experience.

    Owner Response
Thank you for taking the time to let us know how your stay was. We were surprised by your comments regarding your heating unit and will certainly look into this matter. We encourage our guests to let us know of any concerns while on-site so that our staff could assist in making things right. We do hope that you will visit us again the next time you're in Hanover.

  • My new favorite!

by KDocGee on 2017-11-11 05:26 am

This place is great for location, amenities, friendliness, cleanliness, restaurant, quiet rooms...I could go on and on. We choose it because it was just about a mile from King Arthur Flour (we were taking a class there), and it was a perfect choice. Every person on staff was professional but also very friendly and warm. The room was comfortable and there were no noises from adjoining rooms or hallway, just lovely and quiet. The food in the restaurant was very good and innovative without being too "chi-chi, froux-froux". They use a lot of food from local farms, etc. but give things a little twist so the dishes are interesting and very tasty.
