Bird Watching on Martha’s Vineyard
Over 300 species of birds are known to commonly inhabit and frequent Martha’s Vineyard. However, birds from all over the eastern coast can occasionally be found here as they can find themselves blown off course due to hurricane winds. This can lead to some pretty exciting bird sightings. Some of the most exotic and exciting birds that have been spotted on the Island are the European cuckoo, blackburnian warbler, magnolia warbler, bay-breasted warbler, Canada warbler and the black-throated blue warbler.
Mink Meadows Golf Course is located in Vineyard Haven, Massachusetts, a short 20-minute drive from the Harbor View Hotel. This historic golf course, built in 1936 by Wayne Stiles, is a semi-private nine-hole course. With a short layout, Mink Meadows Golf Course will reward good shots and provide a fun golf outing for everyone. The front nine of the course measures 3078 yards, and the back nine measures 3139 yards. This superb course features an on-site pro shop, driving range and beautiful rolling terrain with stunning ocean views over Vineyard Sound to Woods Hole and across to the Elizabeth Islands. Osprey and hawks regularly nest in the woods bordering the course and deer and other wildlife sightings are often sighted. Club rentals are available.
The outdoor heated pool located next to the main building is an ideal place to rest and relax on a hot summer day. Comfortable chaise lounges and plenty of towels are always on hand. The shallow end is perfect for younger children and the maximum depth of the pool is 6.5 feet. Snacks, lunch, and drinks are all available without leaving the pool area.
