  • A Great Old Hotel

    by psyduck1947 on 2017-10-18 06:09 am

I like old hotels and, at 90 the Hilton surely qualifies. Built in 1927 at 3000 rooms,it was then the largest in the world. Now, at 1544 rooms many others, even in Chicago surpass it. But the grand architecture and other touches make it still special. The recent remodel preserves its comfort. The health club is fabulous. The staff helpful and friendly and the location convenient.

  • Out of town conference.

    by carolgS6851ZJ on 2017-10-17 05:56 pm

An excellent trip back in time with all of the modern amenities.
This is a very busy hotel. There were 2 other conferences going on as was mine.
The staff was available for assist and direction at all times.
The hotel was also busy with private parties, engagements, rehearsal dinners, etc...
I cannot say this would be the place for a romantic weekend or a young adult family vacation. It is close to many local attractions and is close to local transportation.
It depends on what your needs are.
Food at the hotel was good, nothing out of the ordinary.
    I had a wonderful 5 day stay.

  • Overpriced mediocre room

by janederosier on 2017-10-17 11:08 am

Obviously the hotel puts its money into the lobby and the high priced rooms. We paid $263. per night and had a broken refrigerator that had water pooling out from under it.They brought us an old beat up refrigerator that looked like it had fallen off a truck. At least it worked. One of the sheets had a good sized tear in it. So much for 'luxury'. And they have the nerve to charge extra for wifi! What business/hotel/motel/restaurant doesn't provide free wifi?! (If we went down to the lobby, it was free, we were told.) Awful. I would NOT recommend this hotel unless you just want to sit in the lobby, which is beautiful, and watch people go by.

  • LOVE 2 beds & 2 baths..perfect for a girl's trip!

    by Lisa J on 2017-10-17 07:57 am

We had a total of 7 ladies in town for a girl's trip and this hotel worked great! Each room had 2 beds, 2 closets and most importantly it also had 2 bathrooms in each room. It made it so nice for us when getting ready. I love having my own space! This hotel is in the South Loop so it is a bit of a walk to most places but there are plenty of taxis and ubers if you don't like to walk. The breakfast buffet was a little pricey for us at $30 each so we didn't eat in the Hilton but there is a Kitty O'Sheas attached and we did eat there which was pretty good.

  • Nice hotel, but disappointing

    by John Y on 2017-10-16 05:05 pm

The hotel is gorgeous, but even 10-12 floors up, the street noise was very constant and loud.
I honestly expected more for the per night price. In hotel dining was good, but not great, and a bit over priced.
