  • Very disappointing

    by denisefE7832CB on 2017-10-21 011:19 pm

I had been to the Hawaiian Hilton several times before in the past six years and this trip was very disappointing ?Don't think I will pay the kind of money $400 a night to stay there again
Not very nice servers in the tropics restaurant
Very slow check in process - over an hour
Then our rooms not ready at 6:15 pm
    Horrible

  • Great location, but chaotic and lacking in value

    by Kacie01 on 2017-10-21 12:28 am

The "resort" is in a great location right on the beach in Waikiki, but did not feel like a resort in the sense I was expecting. While the employees were very helpful, they were simply overwhelmed by the volume of customers. Huge line for check-in (although again, they tried to accommodate by passing out water and such), crowded restaurants, crowded pool and beach area. Our particular room was nothing special (although perfectly adequate), view from the balcony was only of the pool area below (which was boxed in by other hotel towers). While I suppose this place is a resort in the sense that it has several restaurants, stores, coffee shops, etc located within the complex; all of these things are also within walking distance of the hotel and the other hotels in Waikiki. We did have one issue with our bill, which the staff was very helpful with helping us resolve (even following up with a phone call the next day). While there was certainly nothing wrong with the hotel, the 3-star review is based on value, and also because the place felt like a people zoo, not a relaxing "resort" that I was hoping for. If you just want to hit the beach, I recommend you save you money and stay somewhere with few "frills."

  • Awesome Check-in Experience

by JustFern on 2017-10-21 10:43 am

We arrived at the hotel only to find LONG lines. We were a little skeptical that this would take forever. However we were greeted in the line by a gentleman expediting the process and then a lovely woman, Donna Prosch, appeared from behind the registration desk, walked out into the line to greet us and personally escorted us to check-in. She spent a great deal of time with us explaining all that the hotel had to offer and got us set up for our week long vacation. She went above and beyond what was required to ensure we had the best time ever at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. Thank You Donna.

  • Average Resort with Poor Service

    by Lenur Y on 2017-10-21 07:13 am

"The used to be great" historic resort set among tropical landscape spreading over 22 acres of beautiful Waikiki land. But in all honesty, the land is all the resort has to offer. You will spend your vacation among thousands of daily bypassers, which severely diminishes the value and pleasure of your stay in Hawaii. Just another drop in a bucket. Adjust your expectations accordingly: don't anticipate personal treatment, decent service or comfortable up-to-date amenities.

Check-in. Chaotic check-in experience reminds more of an airport check-in during a snow storm: lines of frustrated people who spent hours and hours in transit pending their admission to vacation. Personnel with little interest or cheer, as they have waves and waves of "patrons" to admit. When we finally made it to the counter, the person admitting us happily notified us that Hilton was upgrading our room as a compliment for our Honeymoon. You bet I was bemused when I found all upgrade fees charged to our room upon check-out.

Room. We stayed in the Rainbow tower on 23rd floor with the Ocean View upgrade. This is probably the only feature of our stay that is keeping me away from 1 star rating. The view from our balcony was surreal. While keeping that in mind, the interior of the room was utterly disgusting. Shabby walls, scuffy furniture and broken doors set the tone for the overall condition of our atrocious room (I am attaching pictures, as I struggle to find the correct words to describe it). To add insult to injury, for our HONEYMOON resort gave us two queen bedroom, in place of the reserved one king bedroom.

Pool. Going back to the first paragraph, the pool is okay, but it's absolutely crowded to the point when you couldn't squeeze one more body. As one may imagine, all of it goes along with accompanying noise and mess. Abrupt service tops it off with replacement towels getting thrown to you as you were a receiver on a football field.

Beach. The Waikiki beach is very unique in the sense that it is separated by artificial lagoon, which acts as a wave barrier leaving you a pool-like ocean that is very pleasant for swimming. Another joke is 30$ resort fee, which I have absolutely no idea what is included. You will charged for ~70 dollars for 2 sunbeds and an umbrella. Robbery.

Location. The artificial village that hotel surrounding the resort is another smelly overpriced tourist trap. Head downtown for lunch/dinner options without hesitation.

  • This place is far too big and somewhat impersonal in terms of all its services

    by corinthus65 on 2017-10-20 010:53 pm

This huge sprawling property is a nice place that needs renovation. The rooms are tired and the bathrooms have old fittings. Towels are fresh, toilet amenities are good and housekeeping is efficient . The gym is old and not too bright looking ...somewhat improvised . The pool was small and average . They are short of lifts and it takes time to get to rooms and the lobby. The spa was uninspiring and expensive. I stayed in the KaliaTower and did not have a sea view. The bars and restaurants are good and lively and one has a wide range of choices and shopping at the village. The Tapa bar is a good place to hang out though service is slow and they discourage you from ordering food ! I was not too impressed with the main lobby reception as they were too crowded ,regimented and confused. I arrived early and they could not arrange a shower for me ..not even at the poolside ...I had to go to my conference as I was - straight off the flight ! I had to chase to get my room but to be fair they did their best . The individual towers have receptions that are more efficient. It is important to know where you are staying and perhaps best to go directly to the tower for check in and check out rather than the main reception. This hotel is over priced and one did not feel one was getting value for the tariff. At 300 dollars plus per night one does expect a bath robe !

    Owner Response
    Aloha Corinthus65,
We are glad that you found our resort to be in a great location with lots of resort amenities. We are sorry that we fell short of your expectations. We have 5 pools at the resort with a huge beach front and lagoon. Although you stayed at the Kalia Tower, you can use all of our facilities. Thank you for your comments and candor.

    Mahalo.
