  • Right on the edge of the old downtown area.

Great location. While recently renovated, the rooms are not typical of what I expect of a Hilton Hotel property... still a little dated, especially given the price. Best selling point is that you can have great breakfast in-house ate the Ortiz, and you can walk to the Governor's Palace in 7-10 minutes...

  • Donât get an adjoining room!

We were given a room with a connecting door to the room next door. That family might as well have been in the same room with us. There must be zero insulation around those doors. The noise was a real bother. Otherwise the front desk staff was professional and helpful. The lounge was comfortable with a wood burning fireplace.

Thank you for your review. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed the staff as well as the atmosphere of the wood burning fireplace in the lobby. We are sorry that the guests next to you were loud. We hope that this does not detract from you visiting us again in the not so distant future.

  • Mixed Review

by DGWatters on 2018-03-11 07:44 pm

Loved the location and general "feel" of the property. But a good value it is not (nor are any of the plaza area hotels), even when purchased well in advance. We were assigned a lovely room overlooking a busy street. The property is obviously older (no bathroom ventilation fan) but nicely redone. Once unpacked, we noticed doors constantly slamming in the hallway, noisy elevators, and smokey air flowing under the door jam (mesquite, I believe). Extra charges ($19 parking fee per day and $19 breakfasts) quickly add up. We attended an evening concert nearby so desired the proximity to the theatre. Otherwise staying a mile or two down the road would make better sense (and for less than 1/3 the cost including breakfast and free parking).

Thank you for taking the time to review us. I am glad to hear that you liked the feel of the hotel as well as our location and room. The location of the Hilton being only a block and half off the Plaza makes it very convenient to walk to restaurants, shops and the Lensic. I apologize about the doors, this is something that we are addressing. My hope is that you will choose to stay with us again for your next visit.

  • Very nice and quiet!

Made a last minute decision to stay here. Was given a corner room on the first floor. We had a parking lot on both outside walls and the outside entrance by our bedroom door. We were concerned about noise but that was not a problem at all! It was so quiet in our room, we had no idea we were that close to all the car or foot traffic. The room was recently renovated with beautiful furniture. The bed and linens were extremely comfortable. The WiFi was pretty sad, it was very slow and we got dropped a lot but it was a historic building....can't fault them for that. There was no breakfast offered but considering how close all the restaurants are to walk to that was not a problem. Who wants a free hotel breakfast when you can enjoy the morning air and scenery along with the local fare? Not us! The pool and hot tub were in the center of the building. The pool was old school, it went to 9 or 9 1/2 ft deep! The spa was for 3 people and there was a nice fire place with a sitting area outside to enjoy if you didn't want to get in the water. It was too cold in March for us to try any of that! The parking was not free here. There is a $19 fee to park, there is no way around that. Beautiful property, very quiet, nice staff.

  • Freindly staff and located close to many great restaurants and activities

The hotel has a great old style charm. The staff is friendly and very helpful, The rooms are clean and comfortable. The bedding is comfortable; although the beds are on the small side. My wife are i are six footers and found the beds to be crowded. We ended up sleeping in separate beds. The first floor rooms are somewhat noisy due to the plumbing sounding like a jet aircraft every-time someone . We were with a large group and had a first night buffet get together. The buffet was scary. The veggies were cold, the flank steak was tasteless and tough, the salad was wilted. and the muffins were cold' crumbly and tasteless. However the daily breakfast for the next six days more than made up for the poor dinner. There was a great selection of fresh fruits, yogurt, muffins and good entrees. also the hotel does not have an airport shuttle, If you want to get a rental car you may have to pay to get to the airport to rent one. The rental places near the hotel have a very limited Saturday availability and are closed on Sunday. This is also the first place I have been where Enterprise does not deliver. In addition to paying to pickup a rental; it will cost you $19/day to park at the hotel.
