Overview

The collection of Historic Hotels of Lake Geneva is comprised of two historic buildings, the Baker House and the Maxwell Mansion. Together, they provide a luxurious and historic experience to guests visiting Lake Geneva. The town of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin is about 35 miles southwest of Milwaukee and about 90 miles north of Chicago.

Located two blocks east of Geneva Lake is the Maxwell Estate, nestled among century old oaks, beautiful gardens, lounges, outdoor fireplaces, a heated pool, croquet, and bocce ball amusement. Maxwell Mansion (1856) was the first mansion built in Lake Geneva and has long been host to dignitaries and socialites throughout its history. The entire estate, along with all its buildings, have undergone a complete metamorphosis retaining its original character, yet exploding with excitement of the new, the unique, and the unexpected.

Baker House (1885) is a fantastical folly set in a bygone era, a place where reality fades and decadence takes center stage. Designed with a hint of vintage glamour and a dash of old world aristocracy, visitors will be completely swept away to a world of Gilded Age living. Guests of the Baker House are part of a highly discriminating, interesting clientele that desire a unique experience that is as luxurious as it is mysterious. From the moment of arrival, the personal staff will anticipate, attend to, and pamper every need. From the Butler who prepares a favorite drink without being asked, to the Chamber Maid who arranges the pillows on the bed exactly as requested, the Baker House is a place to fully release and unwind; a place where one can relax and be oneself, or indulge in fantasies and become whomever, if only for one night.

Every guestroom offers a distinct personality, individually decorated with period pieces, timeless elegance, and exotic artifacts. Whether choosing a Premier Room or Luxury Suite, an en-suite spa bath, original working fireplace, and expansive lake views grace all guestrooms. When guests check in to the Baker House, they can look forward to an exceptional experience without equal in Lake Geneva or perhaps, anywhere in the world. So check your worries at the door, grab a hat, and travel back in time with us… The fun has just begun!
