  • Nostalgic but not pretentious

    I enjoyed my hotel stay. Blackhawk bills itself as a tribute to the hay days of Davenport and tried to recreate the charm and elegance that a trip into town must have one entailed. But even though it is the nicest place to stay in the area, the hotel doesn't go overboard with crazy prices or ridiculous fees.

    Parking: included.
    Snacks from the mini bar: reasonable
    Breakfast with coffee and juice: $12.50

    The room was very comfortable with a great bathrobe and a deep soaking tub.

    Only negative was weak Wi-Fi.

  • Great historic boutique hotel

    First time to Davenport and so glad I booked this hotel. Beautiful remodeled historic hotel.

    Rooms were good size, water pressure was excellent as it can sometimes be weaker in older hotels. Bathroom large and clean, large comfortable bed.

    Room did have a few areas where it could have used a little more lighting but other than that it was perfect.

    Hotel restaurant was very good and the service was excellent.

    Lobby of the hotel is incredible.

  • The Blackhawk is the crowning jewel of the Quad Cities.

    We enjoyed the people who waited on us the most. Silas at the front desk helped us get situated in our room and when it wasn't"t warm enough got us a new room. Francisco greeted us with a friendly smile and tended to our car and baggage. He gave us excellent service. I can't say enough about the lovely people there. We requested a special room because my husband is handicapped and were accommodated.

    There are few hotels like the Blackhawk. Go at the right time and the rooms are a steal. You'd pay three or four times as much for a similar hotel in Chicago. From the moment you hit the door, you just feel something special. The history, the distinguished guests, the elegant feel. I can't really describe it. We just love it.

    The lobby bar and restaurant are gorgeous. We've never had dinner there, but we should. The reviews are great and the smells as well. Bar staff is great. Good cocktails and conversation.

    Check out the bowling alley. A blast from the past and a lot of fun, though a bit pricey.

    Rooms are a wonderful blend of the past and present. Overall very roomy. Suites are amazing. The feel of an apartment for a still reasonable price.

    We don't live too far from the hotel, yet each time we go we feel like we're a world away. A true blast from the past.

    There is truly no other hotel that offers a four diamond rating at such a fair price. Go there. I only hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

  • Not As Good As It Once Was

    We lived in the Quad Cities at one time and have stayed at the Hotel Blackhawk many times. Our last visit (and honestly our last couple) have not been great. We checked in on a Friday and found that we'd been placed (without notice) into a queen room despite our reservation. Our first call to the desk got us a curt "no kings available" response. After checking to make sure we did in fact reserve a king, we called again - this time being told that because we used a workplace discount rate we got bumped. I understand the situation, but do not overbook your rooms on a weekend or at least offer something in return.

    After attending a concert in the area, we returned to the hotel around 12:30 to grab one last drink and to chat with friends, only to find the hotel bar completely closed. No employees, nothing. I'm not sure I've ever seen a full hotel bar close at midnight on a Friday.

    Finally, I was prepared to mention our unhappy stay during checkout...but no one even asked how our stay was. The customer service and thoughtfulness has definitely gone downhill at the Hotel Blackhawk.
