As Galveston’s only historic hotel on the coast, Galvez’s prime attraction is its proximity to the beach (30 miles of sand and surf just outside the door and across a wide boulevard). Sunbathing, swimming, jet-ski rentals and horseback riding on the coast are just a few aquatic and seaside attractions. Guests also have access to tennis and golf via the Galveston Country Club.
A number of on-site properties may also conspire to keep you on the hotel grounds, including a full-service spa, business ceneter, gift shop, heated pool with swim-up bar, hot tub, exercise facility, a billiard room on the seventh floor, formal gardens off the veranda, a Jacuzzi and a children’s pool complete with a mushroom waterfall. The Galveston Island trolley stops near the hotel and is an ideal way to visit Pier 21 and the Strand Historic District, known for its museums, galleries, restaurants and shops.
