Big Spring State Park
This 382-acre park, located within city limits, features dramatic views from the CCC-built loop road that joggers, walkers, and cyclists can enjoy. Other activities include picnicking, nature study, and sightseeing. Day use only. Admission charge. 1 Scenic Drive.
Big Spring Vietnam Memorial
Dedicated in 1991, this memorial recognizes men and women who were killed in action during the Vietnam War. The featured stone is same type used at National Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C. Displays include a F-4E Phantom II jet, UH-1 Huey, an Abrams tank, and Cobra helicopter. The memorial is located on the grounds of the former Webb Air Force Base. Accessible from F.M. 700.
Once home to pioneer Dora Roberts, this museum was organized in 1971, and renovations were completed in 1992. Permanent exhibits tell the story of Big Spring's diverse history. Displays range from early Native American life to the oil industry in West Texas. A gallery displays the work of local artists and traveling exhibits from around the country. Open 9:00 AM–5:00 PM from Tuesday–Friday, and 10:00 AM–5:00 PM on Saturday. Admission charge. 510 Scurry.
A restored Victorian home of Joseph Potton family, circa 1901, Potton House is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and features early 1900s architecture and furnishings. Open 11:00 AM–3:00 PM Tuesday–Friday. Admission charge. Second Street and Gregg.
