  • Stay in a Piece of Art

    by Lou F on 2018-07-17 08:00 am

This hotel was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and is his only "fully realized skyscraper". Actually it is 19 stories. The building is as FLW designed and built it. Some modifications, from an office building and permanent residences into a hotel/inn. There is a restaurant/bar on the 15th floor. The restaurant has a great view of the Osage Hills. Food & service were great. Limited, upscale menu. The rooms are a bit "funky", but basically as Wright designed them. The manager and staff are very friendly and accommodating. FLW was an organic, minimalist architect, so do not expect a 2018 hotel. We'd go again, how often can one stay in a piece of art??

  • Amazing

If you love history like I do you will be impressed. The staff was very nice & helpful as well as patient ( I'm very inquisitive & always have a question) There is also a tour that will show you the upper floors that you can't go to on your own. The tour was reasonable at 15.00 and lasted about 45 minutes. The guide was very personable and informative. The hotel itself is in amazing condition & I didn't see where it needed any updating. They kept it as original as possible with up to date technology such as wi-do & card keys.
The only drawback I would say if if you are a large person because the elevators are small but in very good working order for their age. They run smoother than some new ones I've been in. Like the everything else the elevators are triangular. The mural in the lobby is a true work of art & beautiful. I'd love to have a remake on my kitchen or dining room wall. I would highly recommend for 2 reasons

    1) it's an amazing place to look at and reasonably priced at around 120-130 a night

    2) we have to support historical places so they don't end up in a trash heap stripped for copper & antiques

  • Unique FLW Hotel

How fun to be able to stay in a Frank Lloyd Wright building. They did a great job of converting some of this building into hotel rooms. I highly recommend signing up for the tour of the Tower as you can see FLW's Office and find out some little insider information about the Tower! If you ever wanted to stay in a FLW property, I recommend this one!

  • Needs updating

    by Cinda P on 2018-06-06 10:14 am

My husband and I stayed the night in room 138. The room was very large with a king bed. We appreciated the fact that the furniture and fixtures were preserved and designed by Frank Loyd Wright however it needs to be updated desperately!!! It was not clean, needed new comfortable bedding with new comforter. The bathroom needs some work, it just didn't seem clean. Update the rugs and clean the floors!! The outdoor space on the 15th floor is just a joke!!!

  • Modern Day History - A Historical Gem

    by Marsha K on 2018-05-29 11:10 am

A very unique experience and would stay again. An original by Frank Lloyd Wright built for H.C. Price. Today a very unique hotel with some wonderful history. Took advantage of the docent led tour and able to tour the top 3 floors, still in the original look from the 1950's.
