  • Beautiful old inn

    by Curt E on 2017-11-30 10:36 am

This place is great! The staff was friendly, the place was clean, and they even upgraded us to a parlor suite facing King St. which was awesome! I would definitely stay here again even though it's a little spendy.

  • Gir's weekend

    by Karen D on 2017-11-29 09:09 am

Quaint hotel I the heart of Charleston. Lovely Concierge-- Great wait staff. Perfect for our annual weekend get together.

Wonderful breakfast--we lingered in the courtyard over coffee. Wine and cheese in the evening after a full day of touring. Just the perfect touch.

  • Excellent Hotel

    by ron_jerome on 2017-11-28 011:01 pm

A good 'character' hotel located in the heart of Charleston. The room was excellent as was the layout of the hotel. The courtyard was particularly picturesque. The touch of wine tasting and sherry each evening was also different.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

  • Small Hotel in Great Location

    by j68ky on 2017-11-21 11:08 am

We like this hotel for its location...once the car is parked you can walk to all the attractions and restaurants. Nice antique district and upscale shopping right out the front door. A few years ago, we stayed at the KC and had a lovely corner room overlooking Kings Street...however, this time, we had a two bedroom suite which was roomy, but dark...very little natural light. Two very small chairs were the only seating options. The breakfast is quite nice, but understaffed. On some mornings, people arrived for breakfast and gave up and left, as tables weren't cleared from previous guests. I don't think it is the fault of the servers, just not enough help to do an adequate job on a busy morning. The cocktail hour in the evening is quite enjoyable and a time to visit with other guests. We would stay at the KC again, because of the location, but it would have to be in another room.

  • First Time Charleston Visit for 20th Anniversary

    by Wendy N on 2017-11-19 11:39 am

We chose the Kings Courtyard Inn as a location to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary based on the recommendation of a friend and former local who could not stop lavishing praise on this charming Inn.

We had a wonderful first-time stay. The front desk staff were particularly helpful with local dining recommendations and places that were a 'must see' during our trip. The Inn hosts a wine and cheese reception every evening and it was masterfully handled by Joseph, another local, who takes such pride in his city and enthusiastically shared it with the guests. The location of the Inn was perfect for visiting all the sites we wanted to see during our 4-day/3-night stay. There is parking behind the Inn for an additional $14/night, with in/out privileges - which was a plus. A delightful surprise, the Inn gifted us with a bottle of champagne to celebrate our 20-year wedding anniversary. A personal touch that will bring us back again!

We were spoiled on our first night by staying on the top floor (non-street side) in room 604. It was quiet and roomy and probably had the best room the Inn has to offer. The room was always clean and re-stocked after each visit from housekeeping. The room boasted a four-poster bed, gas fireplace with an antique mirrored armoire and dresser drawers, a comfy chair and ottoman as well as a small table with two chairs. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was clean and had a shower/Jacuzzi tub combination.

Breakfast, which is included, is Continental style and was a bit hit-or-miss during our stay. One time, we ordered breakfast for our room, but it never arrived. Downstairs, our orders were simple, but something was always missing. Coffee was never refilled (nor were we asked). Warm selections were often cold and information of pastry and/or cereal selections were lacking. However, this was not a deal-breaker as there are many places nearby where you can grab a nice breakfast.

Overall, we couldn't have made a better choice for our anniversary and first time visiting Charleston. We will be back and will definitely be staying at the Kings Courtyard Inn.
