  • Classic Hotel and Lodge and Great Cabins

by SimbaTheExplorer on 2017-11-24 06:57 pm

The cabins at Lake Yellowstone are very nice. I was surprised by some of the low reviews. I think that may be because there are a variety of quality at Lake Yellowstone from very small cabins with minimal amenities to some larger and nicely equipped cabins. The Lake Yellowstone Hotel is more upscale for a national park hotel. The Lake Yellowstone Lodge is the nicest place in all of Yellowstone. You can relax on a rocking chair on the porch and take in the lake views. The dining room serves a variety of delicious home cooked meals. The lake views from the dining room are beautiful. The lodge has stunning architecture.

  • Loved This Place

Stayed here in September as part of a tour of Wyoming, and loved it! We reserved one of the cabins and were not disappointed; great to switch off and just chill out. We arrived quite early (three hours before the check in time) and the lovely lady at front desk said we could check in straight away as the room was ready. So we did that, dumped all our things and then headed off to explore the southern part of the National Park. The hotel is in a great setting, and the cabin we had was comfortable. No television, no wifi, and it was good to get away from all that for a few days! The dinner in the restaurant was great - Good food and service and some great people watching! All in all, a fantastic stay at Lake Yellowstone Hotel and Cabins. Would recommend it (book in advance like we did), and I would head back like a shot! Loved it.

  • Fantastic place to dine

    by Trevor C on 2017-11-14 02:18 am

Turned up in our RV, to book a table and was told the wait time would be 90 minutes.
So we left our name and took the RV around the back of the Hotel and had a shower and change of clothes - one of the advantages of an RV.
It turned out we had to wait over 100 minutes for our table but not an issue as the bar was very pleasant with live music and very good wine.
I had a beef burger with oak smoked bacon and blue cheese, wow the flavour was out of this world, definitely the best burger that I have ever had. Excellent value for money.

  • A Beautiful Dining Room with Wonderful Food

by Marncol on 2017-10-30 11:18 am

We had made reservations for dinner the first night we were in the park. It was lovely, inviting, and very comfortable. The service was excellent, as was the food. Before we left, we made reservations toward the end of the week to enjoy it again. It is a bit pricey, but worth the cost. We didn't stay here, but the lobby and lobby lounge/bar were wonderful. Pianist was also excellent.

  • Not that great

This hotel scores 10 for location, 10 for the view of the lake from our comfortable room, and 10 for the window cleaner in the restaurant.( I had to double check that there was actually glass in there). The one dinner we ate ( we stayed 4 nights) was very good, as was the breakfast, and the staff were pleasant. So far, so good. However there were a number of things which under met our expectations. Given that it is recommended to book for the restaurant, why was it that our reservation and follow up didn't get any reply? Why do you need three people to man the restaurant desk, while the bar is staffed by a single barman and one or two waiters to satisfy the needs of 100 potential customers? There's no TV, which isn't a problem, but no wifi either which considering that the considerably more rustic Yellowstone Lake Lodge nearby does have wifi, seems to carry the old time authenticity schtick a bit far. The deli was good, but seemed crammed into a corridor as an afterthought, and got fairly crowded. Oh, and someone accidentally released a bear spray in the hotel near to us. Believe me, these things will work! ( I absolve the hotel of all blame, but they didn't seem to have much of a plan for dealing with the situation). I suspect that unless the hotel addresses these issues, the cabins or one of the lodges would be a better bet, but lodging in Yellowstone is a seller's market unfortunately.
