  • Beautiful setting

The hotel is set alongside Yellowstone Lake. We had a lake view room. The window was small, but it was still fun to sit and admire the view. The hotel is old, but recently updated. Based on what I saw of the other lodging facilities in the park, this is probably the nicest. Old Faithful lodge is nice, but the Lake Hotel setting is much prettier. Disadvantage, though, is that it is a fairly long drive to the Old Faithful quadrant of the park where most of the popular geysers and hot springs are.

  • The cabins were perfect for us

The cabins are a great (and less expensive) place to stay to enjoy all the beauty of Lake Yellowstone and surrounding area. It's fun to eat in the dining room and take a tour of the hotel, with all its history. Walk along the lake for awhile and enjoy the sights you can see within a short drive of this place.

  • Beautiful location. Decent hotel

This is probably the best lodging in the park. Hotel sits right on the lake with stunning views. Rooms were clean and simple. We had reserved dinner in the main dining room well ahead of time, as advised. Dinners were very good and servers were friendly and attentive. Breakfast was fine, although served later than we wanted (for early start on animal viewing). Two negatives stand out: no wi-fi and Internet service in our room. We had a minor crisis at home and had to use the in room phone for which the first minute charge was $6, even if the phone connection was not completed. Mostly it was inconvenient. Also, there was no elevator service in for our second floor room in building adjacent to lodge. One of our friends had a recent hip replacement and had trouble with the stairs.

  • Best place to stay for Yellowstone Lake

    by Andy P on 2017-10-09 06:25 am

Stayed for 3 nights and decided to get a room with a lake view which was worth it. Beautiful setting on the lake and the room we had was comfortable and clean. Dinner was lovely, restaurant was busy but had a drink in the lounge overlooking the lake so the 60 min wait was not a problem as it was relaxing to see the sun go down after the days sightseeing. As with the majority of the historic hotels, you do pay for the "experience" of staying in a special place and facilities are not up to modern day standards or expectations but as an experience it was second to none.

  • Spectacular location, ordinary hotel

You can't beat the picture-postcard location of this early 20th century hotel. Its grand entrance, immense dining room, and spectacular grounds (including a house bison who seems always to hang around!) are memorable. But the rooms are rather ordinary. And because we were there about a week before the hotel closed for the season, the staff seemed to have lost its verve and patience, and the hotel was out of such things as robes and extra blankets...
