  • Lancaster Arts Hotel

    by Dineen S on 2018-06-05 03:45 am

Beautiful Hotel, very clean, nice staff, Went with my teenage son who loves art. I don't recommend it for young children based on the art. I would not want a young child running around touching expensive art. It's more a quiet, relaxing vibe.

    Dear Dineen S,
Thank you so much for staying with us, as well as taking the time to provide feedback. We're so glad that you and your son got a chance to enjoy the Hotel. Hopefully you also had the opportunity to explore all the great art work and galleries, in downtown Lancaster as well. The Galleries are constantly opening new shows, and featuring new Artists, so you'll have to come back and visit often (Hint, Hint).
    Thank you again.
    Sincerely,

  • Cool hotel, great service

    by Craig M on 2018-06-04 01:22 pm

We spent just one night here but just about everything about our visit was terrific. The hotel is cool and artsy and our room was spacious and equally cool and artsy. The staff was friendly and service was excellent. Breakfast was pretty good. Our one complaint is that there isn't much sound-proofing in the rooms and we could hear pretty much everything going on in the hall. But the bed was comfortable and we got a great night's sleep nonetheless.

    Owner Response
Thank you Craig M. Both for staying with us, and for your review!
We certainly love being the cool "Unique Boutique" Hotel in the city. If you get the opportunity to reach out to me with specifics about the noise issue, I will try to follow up.

  • Very comfortable surroundings

by Basilico on 2018-06-04 11:58 am

My first stay at this hotel...it has so many things going for it. Professional and helpful staff, from the front desk to room service. Very nice room with modern appointments + extras like turn down service, an in-room wine cooler for four bottles, French doors on the bathroom, eye-pleasing design. Great location near F&M College and easy access to the shops and restaurants downtown. My favorite: access to the fine in-house bar which enables loose imbibing of spirits and wine without needing to worry about a drive home!

    Owner Response
    Wow Basilico!!
Thank you so much for the awesome review!! And of course thank you for staying with us.
You have pretty much summed up exactly what we feel makes us so unique and fun.
From nightly Turn down service, to the attached John J. Jeffries Restaurant, every stay is unique in it's own way.
Hopefully we will get the chance to host you again soon.

  • artsy, friendly, wish sleep quality & breakfast had been better

by jerseyjazz on 2018-06-02 09:50 am

Rumbling of heating/cooling system motor awakened us several times. Not sure if this was unique to our room (309). It was very noisy and then became so vibrational that we called the front desk at 3 a.m. Someone came quickly and was friendly, offering ear plugs, but said that's just how the system is. Clearly this wasn't the first time he'd heard this complaint. I understand it's a old warehouse building dating to the 1800s, but the noise level of this 21st century a/c system was beyond the norm.

Given the artsy vibe and the excellence of the John J Jeffries Restaurant that is attached to the hotel, we found the breakfast really disappointing. I've had much better breakfasts at, say, the Holiday Inn Express where basic hot items like scrambled eggs are included (and you're paying half what you'd pay for the room here). Lancaster is known for fresh produce and good bread products, but you will not find them at the Lancaster Arts Hotel breakfast room. I got by on Cheerios and an apple I'd brought from home; my husband had toast and one of the two bananas on offer. A hotel this good (and frankly any hotel at this price point) should at least be up to Holiday Inn Express standards.

If not for these significant drawbacks I would give it an Excellent rating. We loved the industrial-chic, the art, the sense of history, the easy parking and access to downtown-- but would have to think twice before staying here again if all rooms were as noisy as 309 at night.

  • Third Visit

by handrewn on 2018-05-31 03:48 am

This was our third stay at Lancaster Arts Hotel, and it continues to be a favorite. We love the beams & bricks, high ceilings, room appointments and friendliness and professionalism of the staff. We'll be back next year.
