  • Quality hotel steeped in history

by LongIslandGiirl on 2018-07-14 09:53 am

We did an overnight stay after cruising to Alaska. The hotel has old world charm, we really liked it. The place was very clean, and in a great location. walked to Pike's Marketeasily, restaurants and coffee shops. We walked to the Observatory also but that may be a little far for some people. The bed was very comfortable, we slept great,

  • Beautiful Hotel Suite

by PackUpNGoNow on 2018-07-12 09:03 pm

The Mayflower Park Hotel is centrally located on Olive Way and 4th Street near Pike Place Market. The main entrance is located on a steep hill and there are around 8 steps to the entrance of the hotel. I would not have commented on the steps had there been doormen there to help my family with our luggage. No doormen - - so with a lot of difficulty, we carried our 5 pieces of very heavy luggage up the steps.

This is a historical hotel that has been nicely renovated in its own grand hotel style. The lobby is small and is not set up for guests to sit and relax. Hotel amenities like a coffee bar or gift shop are missing, There is an expensive restaurant and bar. The two elevators are very small and you need your key card to get to your floor.

Our hotel suite was very large and contained two separate spaces divided by a semi-wall. The furnishings are very old school with dark "Queen Anne" style furniture. The living room space had a full size sofa, two side tables and easy chair, bureau with TV and a office nook with a desk and chair. There was a mini fridge but no safe. The bedroom space had two full (or queen?) size beds with a bureau and TV. The tiny bathroom reminded me of old NYC apartment bathrooms with its white tiles, small bathtub, small toilet and pedestal sink.

Front desk could have been more helpful during our visit. While a stand with tourist maps and brochures might have clashed with the atmosphere of the hotel, it would have been helpful to this Seattle newbie. With no map in hand, I had to write down directions given to me at the front desk - one front desk person seemed annoyed with my confusion about how to get to some places and another seemed clueless.

I enjoyed the old school atmosphere of The Mayflower Park. However, I'm not sure it would work for a business traveler or techie who needs the best internet and WiFi or a family with young children or teens who like open spaces to hang out and a big pool to splash in.

  • Great location, great Hotel

We stayed here during the week of Special Olympics. It was a great location for us because of the Light Rail system was very close. It is an older hotel but well maintained, and all the staff was extremely helpful with suggestions and recommendations. We stayed in a suite with king size bed. No complaints definitely would stayed here again.

  • Too many good things to list them all!

    by buttercup16 on 2018-07-10 08:01 am

I LOVE historic hotels and this fits the bill. I waited a few days to write my review as I wanted to make sure I included everything. First, the location is awesome! We walked to the city market (easily), space needle, Chihuly museum, gum wall (gross), ferris wheel, Ivar's house of clams and ubered to Safeco park for mariners game but probably could have walked.
The furnishings in lobby and rooms were perfect old school with updates. Ours was a two room suite. The living area had a sofa which did not make a bed but rollaway was brought to our room and ready when we returned to room to check in. The living room portion of our room had its own bathroom: so awesome!
The front desk easily accommodated our luggage in locked storage when we arrived at noon to check in and were headed to mariners game. The valet was so nice and, unlike Vancouver hotel we stayed in, the valet was not worried about belongings left in car as parking lot was video monitored and locked.
After all that walking and sightseeing my husband and I enjoyed a craft beer in the elegant and calming Oliver's and we were one of two couples there late afternoon: we loved the quiet.
Elegant without being pretentious. Friendly without being overly solicitous. First time to Seattle and if I ever go back, would not consider staying anywhere else.
