  • Grand resort

    by Ronald C on 2017-10-14 04:32 am

This hotel is the oldest hotel in the city. It is updated and very comfortable. It has a grand staircase in the entrance and we have seen brides being photographed on it several times daily. Apparently this is a destination wedding venue. The outside of the hotel has porches with comfortable rocking chairs overlooking the street. It is great to sit there and people watch. The back of the hotel is also beautiful with big, old trees framing the entrance to the hotel decks on one side and the pool and ocean on the outside. It is a truly beautiful hotel both inside and out. When we arrived and checked our vehicle, we received leis and felt welcomed to Hawaii. The bed in our room is comfortable. The food in the restaurant is very good.

  • First Hawaiian Visit

    by kellyv8 on 2017-10-12 07:01 pm

This was our first visit to Hawaii so we thought we would stay here especially regarding its history and position. The room we had was in the original part of the Hotel and at the front of the hotel so if you are a light sleeper I'd ask for a different room, otherwise it was a great room, it was a good size with plenty of space to have cases out with enough room to walk around. It was nicely fitted out and very clean. The beds were comfortable and amenities in the room were great, they have normal coffee and filter coffee in room but there was also a coffee shop on site which was handy if you get up early and need one before you go to breakfast!

The rocking chairs on the verandas were nice to sit and have a drink and the restaurants and cafes on site offered great food and drink at varying prices dependant on where you went.

For a busy hotel the staff were genuinely happy to help you out which was nice.

As first time visitors it was enjoyable in a great position and we wouldn't hesitate in going back.

We booked 8 nights at the Moana Surfrider - tower block , suite with Diamond head views - fantastic. 2 balcony's with great view of sunset and sun rise - perfect for relaxing and sun bathing- we used the facilities of the Beach Club which were really good and convenient -very central to everything you need it to be- good in the beach bar not great but the restaurant was perfect and food very good - house keeping excellent - would definitely recommend and would definitely go back - The Beautiful Moana lives up to its name ?

  • AWESOME location!! Nice hotel!

    by maui_girlll on 2017-10-12 02:20 pm

Stayed for 2 nights in the Oceanfront Diamond tower room! Highly recommend for ocean view (if you can afford it!) and the sound of ocean breezes! Me, my husband and 13 year old son shared 2 double beds comfortably (son in the second bed). Room is clean and updated. Bathroom was small (reminds me of euro style hotel bathrooms) but totally efficient with all the amenities. Bed was comfy, robes in the closet, mini fridge to keep our bevs cold, big tv we never turned on and an interesting juliette style balcony with double glass sliding doors that open wide and wood floors at about 4' deep with two rocking chairs and end table.

Beautiful banyan tree in the back courtyard which leads you to their nice outdoor beach bar and small pool area...and steps to Waikiki Beach.

Saw several weddings at the hotel in 48 hours. Very cute!

We did self park across the street for $35/day.

Not a fan of Waikiki because it's like Vegas on the beach heavily catered to Japanese tourists. We stayed there to do surfing and eat good food but spent most of our time in the North Shore to do shark cage diving (highly recommend!), snorkel at Sharks Cove and eat our around town there. I like Moana Surfrider for what it is there in Waikiki but will not come back to Oahu in the future.

Maui is my favorite of all the islands!

  • Very Classy

    by John747_12 on 2017-10-12 01:30 pm

We stayed at this hotel as the final part of our Hawaiian holiday. The hotel is all class and its close proximity to the sand makes it very convenient to the beach goer. Service was excellent and check in and out very professional and swift. We had a room with a view towards Diamond Head looking down Waikiki Beach. Excellent.
