  • Worth the price.

If you enjoy beautiful, historical buildings, stunning mountain scenery, and friendly staff, this hotel is for you.
I made a last-minute lodging switch, and I am sure glad I did. The desk staff helped me check in, and accommodated me when I asked if I could increase my stay for two nights.
My room is quaint, but spotless. Most comfortable bed I could want. Even with a room overlooking a roof and the parking lot, I still had mountains to enjoy, especially at sunrise- stunning. I was surprised to find no air conditioning; however, the ceiling fan, paired with windows that are able to be opened, allowed for a quite comfortable, breezy room.

The indoor pool area is dated yet also spotless...and the jets in the jacuzzi were wonderfully strong(perfect after a long day of hiking a couple of peaks)! The lobby, and all common areas and restrooms are high-end, tastefully appointed, and impeccable. The veranda and grounds: just wow. Perfection. As pretty as pretty NH gets.

Although I was not prepared to stay at such a lovely resort, and thus did not have business attire with me(plenty of hiking clothing), I did not feel judged or looked-down on. The staff was very warm, and an extra thank you to the kind genteman who wished me a good morning, on the veranda this morning, who informed me that he had just put out the (complimentary) coffee, if I wanted some. I had snuck out at 4:30am, to walk the grounds and gasp at the pre-dawn stillness and beauty, and the delicious coffee was a perfect addition.

I did not participate in the (many) scheduled daily activities, and did not eat any meals here, or visit the spa, but I am quite sure they would all have been high quality.

I hope to return again, perhaps to try out some axe-throwing, take a tour of the farm on the grounds, and enjoy the views from the spa.

If I had to give any "critiques" it would be that having a tub, air-conditioning (for hot days), and a mini fridge, would have been nice additions. But for a historical property, that meshes age with modern comforts, this resort is top-notch. I spent twice the amount I was going to be spending at my original lodging, but the stay here was worth the price. I am leaving feeling refreshed and spoiled. Thank you!

  • OK, bad is bad but this was terrible

It was not the food, or the kitchen, but the waitress. I asked for it to be cooked a little more, and after 5 minutes, I asked about the meal, and she said that it would take another 5 minutes. Everyone else at the table was wondering what was taking so long......it was then that I went to the kitchen and told her to deliver the meal. I NEVER said well done, but she was intent on serving it that way. It was a well done slab of beef. Everyone at the table was taken back.

  • Wish we could have stayed longer!

This is a hotel with history and a great story to tell. There are so many hidden surprises and a long list of amenities and activities (check out the activity sheet upon checking in - try the axe throwing!). Our room (upgraded at check in!) was very comfortable, with a king size bed, huge closet, and a sitting area with table. There's a tv too but why bother when there is so much to do! The gym and indoor pool are the best we've experienced. We had breakfast and they had a good variety for everyone, even with dietary restrictions. Overall, at the top of our list!

  • Great Place that is perfect for business travel and family gatherings!

I've stayed at this hotel a couple times now, and have eaten at their restaurant several times. Overall, this place is great. The views off the terraces of the White Mountains are great, and the condition of the property is top notch considering it is a historic property. I've stayed at many old hotels throughout my life, and this seems to be one of the best maintained by far.
