  • Beautiful Property & Grand Hotel with Stunning Views!!

    by CJ2SL on 2017-09-20 02:31 pm

We spent two evenings (Sun - Tues) at this stunning property!! Stunning views from the Veranda and a lovely third-floor corner room with a Queen Bed with incredible views of the mountains. Only spent two nights (wish we could have stayed longer), but fell in love with this Grand property and hotel. Greeted by a bellman (Stan?) as soon as we pulled up -- he took us to our room, made us feel comfortable and whisked away our car via the free valet service - nice touch. We were lucky with the weather and enjoyed the surrounding area including the Mt. Washington Cog Railway - great experience. Dined in the Tavern the first night and for breakfast (very good) and in the 1865 Wine Cellar our second night - well worth the fixed price of $55 per person - private dining with exceptional food and wonderful service. Spent as much time as we could on the Veranda - the VIEWS!! The campfire on our second night was nice touch as we watched the sunset!! A couple of call outs - lighting could have been better in the bathroom, worth paying for a room with mountain views, disappointed we did not receive the nightly turndown service (always a nice touch at a 4-5 star resort). Otherwise, do NOT hesitate to stay here. We will be back!!

  • A very grand experience

by AndrewBSA on 2017-09-19 05:13 pm

We enjoyed two nights here for our wedding anniversary. Our room was a 3rd floor king room with mountain views and it was very nice. Saturday night was busy with two weddings going on, however by Sunday lunchtime it was much quieter. We ate at the Harvest Tavern Bar on Saturday night and in the 1865 Wine Cellar on Sunday. We had spa services on Sunday afternoon. We had a couples massage and both our therapists were exceptional. Staff were generally attentive and helpful. The burden of the weddings showed a bit on Saturday night and at breakfast on Sunday and staff were a bit frazzled. The overall experience was high end and the grounds were in great shape. They are doing some renovation work, including installing a new elevator, but it did not affect our stay. There was a lot to enjoy, the outside heated pool was big and clean. There are nice walking trails and a working farm. They are obviously making efforts to promote local businesses and serve local produce. Dinner in the Wine Cellar was outstanding with great service and amazing exotic dishes served with style. The common areas are well kept and it retains a cozy feel despite being a large place.

  • Poorly trained and unreliable staff.... oh and mice

    by Elizabeth W on 2017-09-16 06:51 am

I visited the Mountain View Grand for a close friends wedding. I booked with the September 30% off / $30 credit deal. I was so excited since the pictures looked so beautiful. I quickly learned.
Upon arriving, I sat at the bar to wait for a friend to bring me her room key so I had a place to freshen up. I was seating for maybe 5-8 minutes before being greeted by anyone. It was an empty bar. I completely understand being busy and weeded, but unfortunately I didn't see any proper excuses for this.
Throughout my stay, every time I asked a staff member a question, they walked away and never seemed to return. During the first night I stayed in a friend's room - there were no rooms available for me to book separately because I booked last minute - there was a mouse that scurried from under the TV my friend's room to our other friend's joining room. Only one was compensated (not even the one whose room the mouse continued to stay in!) When we called management to ask if we could do anything about it said not really (which we understood) and then offered to step on it.........okay.
I asked if I could check into my room early the next day and they took my number and said they would call when it was ready. Four hours later, no call, and I go downstairs to find it has been ready for hours and I was never alerted. Great customer service, right?
That night myself and other rooms placed breakfast cards outside our doors. Morning comes, no breakfast. So we go down to brunch. There is an empty dining room and we asked two people waiting in front of us if they were in line. They replied, "We're waiting for a table for two,"..... waiting in the empty dining room. There were plenty of tables to be found and no host or hostess.
It's very frustrating because the location is absolutely beautiful and gives the "wow" factor as soon as you pull into the resort. Unfortunately, the staff is poorly trained and unprofessional. They could do SO well if they cared and organized better.

  • Rude golfers on the course

    by George C on 2017-09-15 10:29 am

Staff was great. Rooms were beautiful, the views were amazing. Just don't golf unless you like to be treated rudely. Fellow golfers on the course were completely disrespectful. We were played through by 2 groups of 4 without them asking. I guess $$$ talks. This type of behavior I would never expected. All other aspects of the stay were perfect.

  • Dinner in the wine cellar

Absolutely a must!!! The atmosphere was enchanting, the food was delectable and our waiter, Javar, was phenomenal! He made us feel that we were the only ones in the restaurant! Make reservations ahead of will not be disappointed!
