Old Edwards Inn and Spa

Overview

In the shadow of the great Smoky Mountains sits the quaint village of Highlands, North Carolina. Here, nature’s splendor offers a relaxing respite from the pressures of everyday living. Life moves a little slower and the stresses of the modern world seem to pale next to the grandeur of Mother Nature. Each season brings its own wonders to Highlands and visitors can partake in the many outdoor activities or simply revel in the beauty that permeates the surroundings. The spectacular mountain scenery and pristine beauty of this spot make a fitting backdrop for the Old Edwards Inn and Spa. The inn is a spa destination resort, consisting of the historic main building, previously known as the Hotel Edwards, a full-service European–style spa, Madison’s Restaurant and Wine Garden and The Farm, a self-contained meeting and special events facility in a pastoral setting just one mile from the inn. After more than a $50 million renovation and expansion, Old Edwards Inn is a recently completed project boasting a 15,000 square foot Spa Amenities Building; state-of-art Fitness Center, outdoor heated mineral pool and Executive Conference Center.

The inn began operating in 1878 as the Central House, a boarding house and restaurant that was integral to the Highlands community.
