  • wonderful stay!

The log cabin design, amazing! Staff were friendly and helpful. The location was perfect. We reserved 1 year in advance, and may have like a room in the originial "old house", but loved it. Would go again!

  • Very good older hotel extremely close to Old Faithful

    by Neapolitan1234 on 2018-06-18 08:53 am

Price was steep for a "superior" room that was adequate but not exceptional, and hadn't been updated in perhaps 20 years. Electrical outlets were loose. Restaurant (we opted for the menu rather than the buffet) was good. Coffee shop on premises was mediocre with moldy bagels. But all in all, the atmosphere of the place was quite good (including the majestic lobby) as was the convenient location.

  • A must visit in life time

    by Vivekanand B on 2018-06-18 07:48 am

It was with family, location of this hotel is in the heart of the park, next to the biggest geyser.

Totally amazing experience, at least you need one week to explore the park. we were able to spot black bear and brown bear apartment from Bisons and other animals
Perfect weather in 2nd week of May even though of the attractions were not opened yet

  • Old House

We stayed in an original inn room with 1 queen bed and reserved it 10 months ahead of time. It is not the place to stay if you want TV, Wifi (very spotty), microwave, or frig. This is the place to stay if you want to appreciate the history of the inn and unplug from the outside world. Bathrooms and showers are shared. Although the communal bathrooms were not an issue for us, we had difficulties getting a warm/hot shower in the evening and in the AM. Take one of the the free tours given 4 times a day to appreciate the architectural design and long history of the Inn and the impact on other lodges in the park. You will need reservations in the dining hall for dinner but not for breakfast or lunch. My advice is to order off the menu and skip the Buffett. A nice alternative is to eat at the Hamilton General Store - ate both lunch and dinner there and both were fantastic! The access to the geysers is the main attraction here and that did not disappoint. I viewed Old Faithful from the ground and the viewing deck located on the 2nd floor of the Inn. One of the highlights was to see Old Faithful and Bee Hive (erupts every 12-15 hours) go off at the same time which according to a park ranger is a rarity. This provided a great location for some short day hikes. Know what you are getting when you reserve your room. All in all a great place to stay and I would come back!

  • Beautiful lobby, uncomfortable room

    by Debra26 on 2018-06-17 08:29 am

While the lobby is stunning, our room was not. We had a standard room with a bathroom and one queen bed. We understood the historic limitations of the location but the room was uncomfortable. It was clean but very small and you could hear noise from other guests. There was no air conditioning but our window only opened a few inches. At over $300 per night, the OFI. was priced "what the market will bear."

I think that Yellowstone visitors should stay inside the park because it is so large. It takes a while to drive between points of interest, especially if there is a wildlife sighting. (The park sends Rangers to direct traffic when they know about the sighting, but we saw people stop and block traffic before they arrived.) If I return to Yellowstone, I will pick a different hotel.
