  • A literary lovers dream location...

    by drsteve76 on 2018-07-18 11:30 am

The historical background of this hotel made it a must stay for my English teacher wife and me. When I was selecting our accommodations for our planned 4th of July visit to this celebrated city, especially that time of year, the combination of the location and the history of the edifice made it an easy choice. It was central to all of the places we wanted to see on our quick trip. After 3 nights, I was finally getting my bearings straight when we walked out the front door, but then I walked out the side door, and I was lost all over again. Looks like we may have to plan another visit so I can feel more comfortable getting around in Boston! The Parker House restaurant was excellent and served as a worthy supplier of excellent Lobster and Clam Chowder; both are must haves when you visit New England. The Last Hurrah was a great place to unwind, whether is was to recover from the brutal heat blast of touring the city on foot or recovering from an impromptu downpour we endured when watching the 'preview' show at the Half Shell, the night before the grand 4th of July celebrations. The prompt delivered preplanned breakfast service was a nice touch after the long days of sightseeing, it was a pleasant wake-up treat. I would highly recommend this as a must see luxury hotel accommodation from another era.

  • Oldest Hotel in the U.S. 1856 Excellent

Omni Hotel in Boston is a great hotel to stay in for the old charm and closeness to all the history that Boston has. Hotel is in the heart of the city!! Excellent choice for our family trip!! Boston Creme Pie is Amazing!!

  • Tiny Rooms

    by Fondue4two on 2018-07-17 04:54 am

The best thing about the Omni is its central location. Yes this historic hotel has a lovely lobby but as can be expected the rooms are small.

The room itself felt a bit worn. When was the last time you saw a Lodgenet TV system? The bedding was overly soft. The bathroom was tiny with almost no space for our gear. There used to be a frig (or mini bar) but no longer. One tiny window - at least we had a view of the city and not a wall like a colleague had. Overall not worth the high prices.

A nice touch was the white noise machine which was helpful but not as essential if we were on a lower floor.

  • Historic Boston

Don't expect all the niceties of a modern hotel in the oldest operating hotel in the country. It's in a perfect location to walk everywhere and the historical sites are amazing. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Staying in a museum is my dream vacation.

Did you get a chance to visit our "museum" while you were here? It's located on the lower lobby level next to the fitness center. Many thanks for your nice review!

  • Great location, desperate for renovation

    by Becky L on 2018-07-16 01:40 pm

I stayed here for work. The hotel smells bad and really needs a big cleanup. It's a fantastic location- but stay elsewhere. Yes it's historic. Yes, it's in the middle of everything. But it's so not worth it. Dingy room with almost no lights, windows face a dumpy alley, and there's zero air circulation. It's either freezing or sticky- and the weather outside is lovely!!! Boston is a small town, and there are plenty of other MUCH nicer hotels within a few T stops/short taxi ride. I stayed at the Park Plaza in early June for almost $100 less a night and it was infinitely nicer.
