  • Lovely Hotel Near Capitol

by DCPeople on 2018-02-17 04:50 am

Testimony to the Phoenix Park's ability to satisfy guests is its longevity. It is a great value with very up-to-date, spacious rooms with all the amenities. The staff is enthusiastic and helpful, the wi-fi wonderfully fast, and the location perfect. Just a block from Union Station and easy walking distance to the Senate Office Buildings and Supreme Court. A nice and unexpected touch was a mini-bottle of Baileys left with chocolates at night.

  • Great location and value

by vwlangley on 2018-02-15 08:47 am

What a great location for the capital. Service was great! Ana the manager is awesome and did everything to try to accommodate. Tisha worked the front desk and was so sweet and professional. The doorman were so polite and right there to help.
The room I was in and the elevator are very small. The "closet" is practically non existent. It was fine for a few days for 1 but I really don't think 2 people for a week would have room.
That being said the decor and the gym were very nice.
    Look forward to returning.

  • Great place to stay in DC

by UnmannedFarmer on 2018-02-11 03:33 pm

DC is like my second home and I've stayed in many a hotel in different areas of the city but my personal choice is this one. It is in a great location if you need to do Hill visits and close to Union Station. It's an older hotel but was remodeled in 2016 and is very clean. The staff is awesome and a big shout out to Tisha, she is very friendly and helpful. This was the first time just my wife and I have been to DC without the kids and would recommend for business or couples. It is very reasonably priced and the beds are very comfortable. Another plus for the hotel is the direct connection to my favorite DC restaurant, the Dubliner. If you just want coffee, the hotel has a great coffee bar on the second floor but if you want breakfast you dine in a special room serviced by the Dubliner. Room service is from them as well. You can't go wrong staying here. The picture is from our room looking at the National Guard museum (L) and the Postal museum.

  • Love this Hotel.

Wow. We haven't been to the Phoenix Park since they renovated it and what a pleasant surprise. The rooms were updated and clean. The staff , as always, was helpful and nice. The location is great for traveling by train. Close to the Capital and Mall. Late night in the pub is always entertaining.

  • Very Nice Hotel

    by jcp07 on 2018-02-09 06:14 am

Because the Phoenix Park is an old hotel, the rooms are rather small, but it has been nicely refurbished. The bathrooms are modern and the d?cor is pretty. The beds are very comfortable with nice linens. The hotel is a block from the train station and across the street from the National Postal Museum. We were given the choice of a scenic view or a room on the back. I had read in another review that a room on the front could be noisy, but we opted for that, and on the weekend the noise was not a problem. There is no coffee pot or water kettle in the room, but the hotel has coffee and tea available on the second floor from 6 until 10 or so in the morning. Besides regular coffee, the coffee machine offers lattes and cappuccinos that were fine enough. The Dubliner, a pub which is part of the hotel has breakfast in the morning, and it appeared to be well attended. The dinner we had at the pub the night before was delicious, but we chose to go to the Corner Bakery a block away for breakfast. There is an exercise room in the basement of the hotel, but we did not use it. The hotel did not have the extra "resort fee" as some Washington hotels do, perhaps because the Phoenix Park does not have a pool. If you like to walk, the Phoenix Park is a walkable distance from the Capitol, the National Gallery of Art, the International Spy Museum, and many things in between. The courteous and friendly staff greeted us each time we entered the lobby and always offered help with directions and taxis if needed. When visiting DC again and wanting to stay in the area of the train station, we would definitely chose the Phoenix Park Hotel.
