  • booked for location

for our one night stay in Portland I booked this hotel and had no complaints. We pre-booked parking which was about $20. It meant we could dump our car on arrival and enjoy our time in Portland without having to worry about moving the car or spend time travelling into the centre. We didn't have breakfast there as we went for a walk in the morning and ended up going into a caf? near the hotel which looked good (can't remember the name but it was just across the road from the hotel on the corner - good coffee and pastries).

I encourager you to try breakfast with us on your next stay. The blueberry pancakes are a big hit as well as the Lobster Benedict.
We hope to welcome you back soon!

  • I didn’t want to leave....

    by redsoxfan77 on 2018-02-04 10:46 am

Just visited and I really didn't want to leave. Staff was great, room was luxurious. We stayed in the Regency suite which was well worth it. The bed was so comfortable and the shower was heavenly! I usually don't use hotel amenities, but the shower gel they had in the shower smelled amazing! I wish I knew what it was. We got room service for dinner one night and the food was delicious. I highly recommend the lobster stew it was the best I've ever had (and I'm from New England) I can't wait to book another stay here. Highly recommended if you want luxury in a fabulous location right in the center of Old Port.

Thank you for taking the time to review our property. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us.
The shower gel product that we offer in our rooms is called Molton Brown. We also utilize and sell this product in our Spa.
I would certainly recommend you visit our Spa for a future visit.
We look forward to welcoming you back sooner than later.

  • Stayed to attend a show at Merrill Auditorium.

    by Karen G on 2018-01-28 08:58 am

Loved the stay. Vaket parking was very convenient (even with me forgetting my phine in the car and the valet having to run back to get it)! They provided coffee service in the morning right to our room. Fiod in the restaurant was fabulous!!
The location, staff, and accimmodatuons were amazing!
Thank you for making our stay so relaxing!

    Owner Response
    We appreciate your review.
Please think of us next time you attend a show at Merrill or visit Portland.
It's great to hear that you had an opportunity to visit 20 Milk Street (Our Fine Dining Restaurant).
We also have a great lounge (The Armory Lounge) that you may want to venture to on your next visit with us.
Hope to welcome you back soon!

  • Luxury in Central Portland?

    by George S on 2018-01-22 00:04 am

I travel to Portland every year for the Maine Boatbuilders Show. I chose the Regency based on internet pictures and the description of the property. It looked as if it would add a touch of luxury to my three-night stay in the city. Luxury...not so much but the staff is wonderful the room was large, dated but comfortable. The internet connection was very slow. Forget the spa. Although I did not get any treatments the shower and hot tub facilities were not very inviting. Both showers on the men's side of the locker room had issues in terms of controlling the water temperature. Hot and cold blasts resulted in a very short and uncomfortable experience. The hot tub small and...well uninviting. The basement bar is a real hotspot at night and the little French restaurant across the street is great. I'm heading back to Portland next month. Will I stay at the Regency again, yes, mostly because of the hotel's location and the little French restaurant?

  • Clean & comfortable. Great location.

    by Christopher L on 2018-01-18 03:27 am

I stay here most for visits to Portland ME, 4-5 times a year. Rooms are small but not crowded. Beds are a bit too soft but give decent support. Bathrooms are a bit dated but clean and function well. Complementary newspaper, coffee and pastry outside your room at your specified time is always welcomed, and the coffee is good too. Armory Bar & Lounge and another restaurant on property make this nicely converted armory building into a true Hotel. Competitively priced and right downtown near Old Port. I'll be back.
