Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I hope we have enough snow for the dog sleds this winter so you can come back. It has been tough the last few years. We will keep our fingers crossed!

  • Laid back and peaceful

Punderson Manor is very laid back and peaceful. People should get use to a slower pace while visiting. My food was hot and fresh and the place was clean. I was able to roam free on the grounds and enjoyed all the fantastic views. This place is not bad for a state park!

  • A sad mix of potential and shortfall.

    by David J on 2017-09-24 03:10 pm

This a sad mix of potential and shortfall. The facility has real character and I have been there for receptions, parties etc as well as occasions for breakfast and lunch with clients.
The potential is the ambiance of the facility in a beautiful natural setting, particularly in the Fall. The shortfall is in the catering which fluctuates so much. As stated earlier, I was there for a party recently and returned the following morning for breakfast with the family. The party catering was really lackluster for the fees that they were charging, but the breakfast buffet was embarrassing.
It consisted of heated pans/half; pans of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, small potato cuts, biscuits and gravy and pancakes. There were a few pastries available - definitely an outside purchase - and minimal fruit. None of the pans had active heating pots and thus the food was cold. The bacon was so burnt that it was almost impossible fo pick up without shattering and we had to request more eggs - as the pan was empty - and potatoes - because they had been there so long that they had become chips.
The staff was pleasant enough but with just seven clients there at the time - three servers to seven at three tables - one would expect that they would notice that the food needed care or customers needed more coffee. For all of that, we were charged the standard buffet rate of $15 per head including tax and tip. Please management, your facility has so much potential, try to raise your game.

Thank you for your candid review David.

I am sorry you had a bad experience with our breakfast buffet. It certainly does not sound like anything I have seen us put out and we certainly take pride in what we serve our guests. I will forward your comments to our culinary team and we can always strive to be better. It also came as a surprise that you were not happy with the event you attended. During the month of August we received all good post event comments from our groups. At the end of the day, I feel like our prices are fair and the feedback we are getting from our groups has been wonderful as of late. I am sorry if we were not up to your standards in regard to this particular event. If you would like to speak to me further, please contact me at my office number at 440-564-2602.

    Thank you.

  • Delightfully quirky

    by Sharon T on 2017-09-20 01:50 pm

The Manor Lodge has beautiful wood diamond pattern window panes and an inviting fireplace with the comfort of recently renovated guest rooms. We loved the lake view from our 2nd story room, but if you have knee problems, opt for a 1st floor room. There are no working elevators and once you're on the 2nd floor dragging your suitcase, you'll encounter 3 short flights of stairs--down, up, down--getting to your room. They're probably the result of additions to the original structure. The restaurant had surprisingly good food for a state park served by friendly school students. The new boardwalk along the lake is great. The Adirondack chairs beckon you to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The only negative was the marina. It needs to be torn down. The rentals are essentially metal rowboats with a small motor. They're filthy and water logged. We used the lodge as our home base for day trips to Lake Erie, Geneva-on-the-lake and Macedonia's Hard Rock casino.

    Hi Sharon,
Thank you for your kind words. I realize we do have a lot of stairs in a lot of places. It is a bit of a relic of long ago building practices. I am glad you enjoyed our restaurant and the board walk was a great addition to the park. I am sorry you did not enjoy the experience at the marina. Unfortunately, ODNR runs that half of the park and the management of the Manor is unable to effect any changes there to improve that area.

We are so glad you chose us as your home base and please come back and see us again soon. We have a lot of improvements coming in the next year!

This is a real gem..The place is beautiful and set in just lovely surroundings on a lake. The breakfast was really good and the restaurant was tranquil. We walked around the property and really enjoyed ourselves. The staff was friendly and they also had a nice gift shop...Good place
