  • Boutique, calm, high end service - coming back

    by joni c on 2018-03-17 12:26 am

I read a few reviews, some raved others said "not as good as it used to be." Well, I don't know what it used to be, but I am impressed. The property is gorgeous and the service is stellar top to bottom. I felt so well attended to by everyone. It was a joy to relax in this quaint AND sophisticated property. I highly recommend. And I'm super picky.

  • Gorgeous Resort

by snazzycharm on 2018-03-17 09:22 am

This resort is gorgeous and has an intimate boutique hotel feel. The grounds are stunning. The food at T Cooks is delicious. However, I did not find the food at the poolside restaurant to be of good quality.

  • Consistently great experience

by whoyster on 2018-03-16 12:11 am

This place never fails to impress. The remodeled rooms and casitas are comfortable and great for relaxing. It's really the people who make the difference here. To me, that reflects excellent management. The minute you arrive you'll feel like the valet crew really cares. Check in was a breeze with Jake taking the time and effort to find rooms that worked best for us. The restaurant here is one of the best in Phoenix. You must have breakfast here. Brian provides first class service and is always scanning tables to make sure things are perfect. The location at the foot of Camelback is in close proximity to everything we like to do. We will be back.

  • Gorgeous Room, Many luxury items, Friendly, personable staff

by LLDearness on 2018-03-12 03:25 pm

The Montavista Terrace King lived up its website photos! Luxurious linens, elegant & large bathroom, quick-filling (with almost instant hot water) soaking tub, large shower. Nice view from our comfortable balcony. Flawless check-in experience - personable staff even late at night when we checked in. Bar was still serving a limited menu - excellent service and nice food that night (see my separate reviews for our two dining experiences onsite).

I'm not a fan of hotel booking websites - been disappointed before BUT tripadvisor offered a Hotels for Everyone deal on this room ($261+resort fee) that was 1/3 off the best price I could get from the hotel when I called in (including asking for a Sr discount). No problems getting the very nice room we reserved.

The maid service was wonderful too. Our room was super clean - frankly I don't usually remark on cleanliness unless its really bad or really good. I travel with my own blanket - this is the only time a maid has made the bed up smoothing out my blanket as I'd set it up the night before - so thoughtful!

Why not 5 stars? 2 reasons - 1) the onsite restaurant was understaffed & poorly managed, our service was horrible. (see separate review if interested) - having an onsite restaurant is an important consideration for us especially when the hotel is a bit remotely located. 2) poor signage - my husband was lost for over 20 mins trying to get back to our room.

  • Everyone Looks So Good in that Warm Light

    by Lori H on 2018-03-08 09:33 am

Beautiful place. Beautiful you. The desert light is so flattering reflected from the warm colors of the Royal Palms. Haha. Not surprising, there seem to be lots of weddings here.

This place drips with charm. There are little vignettes of character around every corner, in every nook and cranny. The grounds are very lovely.

We liked our casita. The patio was a real bonus this time of year (spring) when the weather is spectacular. The bathroom was a tad on the small side, but there was plenty of room near the sink for getting ready. It felt very private and cozy. It was romantic.

The location is an easy drive to restaurants, activities, and Scottsdale Stadium (Go Giants!).

Drawbacks: We bought some ice cream to eat while watching the Oscars, but realized the mini-fridge had no freezer. The restaurant is pricey for breakfast, but the service was so pleasant that we didn't mind.
