    Spa old with pull curtains under sinks that's nasty germs. Steam room smelled like ammonia. Massage was pretty ok. Grounds old and Tuscan. Most doors need refinishing badly you can see greasy and dirty area where you push doors open and furniture plain old nasty, scratched, cracked. 4 of us guys went for spa day. Won't be back. Royal palms needs lot if defeated maintenance brought up to some k ind of clean and current standards. When I paid for drinks at pool they shorted me around 6 dollars.. I asked why the person I paid said we round off. WOW. THAT'S THIEVERY IN MY BOOK. ADIOS ROYAL PALM.

    Great resort with lots to offer. The space is quiet and tranquil with a great backdrop of the camelback mountains. Pool is nice as well. The staff is very friendly and don't forget to visit the MixUp bar; great cocktails and bar food.

  • Anniversary trip

    My husband and I stayed at the Royal Palms for our 2nd anniversary. The staff were extremely helpful and polite. The grounds were beautiful but in need of upkeep. The whole place needs a paint job and the furniture looked old and faded. Our room was very nice and spacious. The restaurant was delicious with great service. The pool was the biggest disappointment. It was small and filled with locals drinking beer. It was so crowded I didn't even want to go in.! They should keep the pool for hotel guests only.

  • Too warm in July, hotel about made up for it

    A visit to Phoenix in July to see family definitely requires a nice hotel given the temperature, and the Royal Palms did not disappoint. We spent 4 nights in a Montavista Suite which had ample room, and then some. There were separate temperature controls in the bedroom and the living room with a pretty quiet AC system. The north facing balcony included a chaise lounge which was pleasant in the early morning. Keurig coffee maker in the room was nice to have, but you can also get coffee at the pool. The bed was very comfortable. Our room (321) faced north so there was a terrific view of Camelback Mountain. Our room was in a corner of the U shaped building which meant not a lot of breeze while we were there. Terrific breakfasts at T. Cook's, my favorite was the corned beef hash with hollandaise. Professional, friendly service throughout the hotel, including the valets and bellmen, the front desk and pool personnel, housekeeping, and our servers in T. Cook's and in the Mix-up Bar. We will definitely stay at the Royal Palms for future visits.

  • 4 Star with a 2.5 Star Feel

    Pleasant Old historical ambience but felt like they were closed for the season. 90% of cushions and umbrellas propped up against the wall all day long. Paid resort fee but pool deck felt like it was cutting my feet. Terrible room location in the last building next to the road at $200+ a night plus parking with no view in off season. They looked 80% vacant so the effort to gain my respect with a better room location was not offered. Much better deals offseason elsewhere.
