  • Historic Lodging in Three Forks

by hikersfromVA on 2017-05-24 11:22 am

This is a lovely hotel which has been beautifully restored. The large front porch is a great place to relax. We stayed in room 309, a pet-friendly room. The room was very small and dark. The one window was located above eye-level, so we could only see the sky. There was a nice desk, but when it was in use, it blocked access to the the bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was large and very nice. The hotel offers a complementary breakfast that is delivered to your room. While the room was small, there are several sitting areas throughout the hotel.

  • Sleep deprived in a beautiful hotel

    by Heartland1 on 2017-05-22 08:32 am

I really wanted to love the Sacajawea Hotel. It IS beautifully restored. Service is warm and friendly. The front porch is a great place for a glass of champagne on a sunny Montana spring day, and the complimentary in-room continental breakfast is a great amenity. I loved it all, except for one thing. We stayed there on a Friday night, in a room over the basement bar, which plays amped-up country music on Friday and Saturday nights, starting at 9 pm. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood to be kept awake until the wee hours of Saturday morning, having just finished a trans-Atlantic flight two days before, but I wish the hotel had told me what I was in for at check in. There was no escape--not in the lobby, not outside in my car from the throbbing bass lines. Only at the bar and casino across the street (where I managed to win 5 bucks.) So, I arrived sleep deprived, and I departed sleep deprived despite the earplugs and white noise device in the room. Bottom line: Don't stay here on a Friday or Saturday night. Advice to the Sacajawea: go acoustic with your bands, or don't rent the rooms above the bar on those nights.

    Owner Response

I'm so sorry to hear you didn't sleep well, we do appreciate the feedback. Our current policy is to advise the person at time of reservation that live music will be featured my sincerest apologies as it seems this was not done in your case. We hope you'll visit again for a mid week stay & experience our other wonderful & quiet amenities.

  • Best Mac & Cheese Ever!

    by flyfish66 on 2017-05-15 10:30 am

On a trip home from from the BZN airport, I stopped in to grab a quick lunch. I asked the waiter for a recommendation and he suggested the Mac & cheese. This was not your mothers mac & cheese (i.e. Kraft). This was a rich concoction of 5 cheeses and certainly the best I've ever had. Tip: Eat downstairs in the bar. It's cheaper than the upstairs dining room.

    Owner Response

Thrilled you enjoyed your lunch & I concur best mac & cheese ever!! (Don't tell my mother I said that) Hope to see you again soon, we offer a great fly fishing package next time your in need of a getaway!

  • 5 Stars in 3 Forks

by TNTATTHEBEACH on 2017-05-09 01:22 pm

Our *****Star rating is relative to the immediate area and region. We really loved our stay at "The Sac" - check in with Dillon was thoughtful with complimentary champaign and a cold towel; our shoulder season free upgrade was supremely appreciated; our room was spotless was huge with a super large shower and super comfortable with several premiums like fudge and higher end lotions, etc; our free continental breakfast was delivered precisely on time directly to our room; the coffee station on the second floor was eating to go at 6 bells.

In addition, the Sac Bar and restaurant (main restaurant is closed Mondays, but same kitchen) was itself 5 stars. Barkeeps Garrett and LD took excellent care of us and the kitchen delivered. Best soup ever - venison/mushroom/barley and beat mac n cheese ever (super large and goopy with multiple cheeses and tons of chicken) - drink prices were average for Montana which means inexpensive and selection was very nice.

Only thing to note for some who may have issues with stairs is the lack of an elevator - so ask for a lower room if need be.

Great stay at a place we will be sure to return to next time we are near Yellowstone or Bozeman.

    Owner Response

We thank you for this 5 star review & your feedback! We are constantly updating our menu as our chef tries new dishes but the constant is its always delicious, the mac & cheese you enjoyed is a local favorite. We think breakfast in bed really sets our continental breakfast apart but in the warmer months you can choose to have it served on the porch or anywhere else on property. No elevator means first floor rooms can be much more convenient although on Fri & Sat we recommend upper floors for a more peaceful experience as we do have live music in the bar those nights.
