  • In for a wedding

    To open, I would like to say this is a beautiful hotel. We were here for a friend's wedding and stayed at this hotel which is where the reception was held. It is a small quaint hotel and majority of the hotel was booked with the wedding guests. The reception site was a beautiful facility and after the reception, when the party moved to the bar, that is where the problem lies. The bar is visually appealing but acoustically horrible. The noise level was high with all of the wedding guests celebrating, but beyond that, the bar staff was not accommodating and rude. When complaints about bar staff were made to the front desk, there was no management on property to deal with it. The front desk receptionist did not know how to handle this situation and management wasn't there to take care of issues. If you are looking into having an event at this property, you may want to reconsider. They obviously are not prepared to handle a moderate sized event. Management should be on property for special events, and they were nowhere to be seen.

  • Initial charm fades quickly

    The first impression is one of old Souther charm, style, & luxury. However, the charm soon fades. The lobby area is visually beautiful, but the acoustics in the lobby and connecting bar area are terrible. Put more than a handful of people in the common area, & one walks into a cold cacophony of echoing voices all blending into unpleasant, raucous noise. The room is comfortable & clean, soft linens and comfortable bed. However, the shower never ran hotter than lukewarm at best. The room offers very little drawer space. I like to unpack my things when I travel, but was largely unable to do so, so I lived out of my suitcase for the duration of my stay. The parking is TIGHT & limited. One night, i had to park a couple of blocks away on a side street, and, being alone, was a tad nervous walking back to the hotel in the dark. To be fair, manager told me that the hotel provides parking across the street, but I did not see it. The walls of my room were thin. Luckily, I stayed at the hotel during the week, but on Thursday night, a new guest must have checked in next to me. He stayed on the phone for an extended time, and I heard the entirety of his conversation. Customer service was spotty. Alyssa and Shannon both were superb, clearly customer-oriented, but I didn't find that with some of the other staff. The massage with Kelly was good, but do not go to the "spa" expecting a true spa experience. I stayed at the hotel for five days and was ready for a hot shower. On the first leg of my drive home, I stayed at a hotel that did provide truly hottt water, so I know it can be done! Bottom line: great first impression, but will seek to stay elsewhere when I return in a couple of months.

  • Spectacular way to bring in the New Year!!!

    We purchased tickets for the New Years Eve party at the hotel. When we arrived we were greeted at the door with a glass of champagne. We had a reserved table with food platters and unlimited champagne. The service was personable and friendly. The hotel was beautifully decorated.There was a band (Groovy7) that played until midnight. From the moment we arrived to when we left there was pure perfection. We watched the pinecone drop in the courtyard at midnight as streamers and confetti filled the air. It was truly an unforgettable experience!! It was so nice to not have to drive home.

  • From “Love” to “Like”

    For years this has been one of our favorite hotels, my wife and I always looking forward enthusiastically to each visit. Happily its unique charm and warmth have not changed, but three recent changes have dampened our enthusiasm. First, new WiFi connectivity problems were a source of frustration. Second (despite lack of in-room coffee makers), the hotel has discontinued their much-appreciated complementary morning coffee and muffin service. Third, and most important, their delightful bar has been converted into a "cafe" serving breakfast and light lunch Items. Lacking a proper kitchen exhaust system, the aroma of fried eggs emanating from the "cafe"permeates the reception area as well as the upstairs hallways. The managers may want to re-think the impact of the "cafe"...

    I'm so sorry you were upset concerning the smell of breakfast in our lobby. We've been looking for an in-house breakfast solution since opening and felt that a hot full breakfast option through Scotts Coffee Shop with a high end espresso machine was worth the loss of the complimentary coffee. We are especially excited to step up room service breakfast with china delivered hot from the kitchen.

    We are experiencing connectivity issues like many other public access providers. Since Apple added more security measures to there ios devices, they are more difficult to connect. Our cable provider is upgrading our access points and troubleshooting to get a solution as soon as possible.

  • What an amazing hotel

    If you like boutique hotels, with personality and great architecture and a terrific staff, this is a great place to stay. It's in the heart of Covington, Louisiana, centrally located in the historic district and close to restaurants and boutique shopping. Very classy renovation, beautifully done, and full of charm and personality. Very quiet and clean and up-to-date. We stayed there for the first time this week.
