  • A wonderful American hotel

    by Anon137 on 2018-05-26 07:50 am

The St Louis Union Station hotel is two properties in one. The old Union Station Hotel, in the Headhouse, is a Curio brand property. The theme is passenger railroading; each room is named for a train, with wall hangings pertinent to that train and the railroad.

The actual decor is subtle, including crown molding.

Out in the space where the train shed was is a modern, Doubletree tier hotel. It's not bad either!

There are the usual amenities for a hotel at this price point, including a concierge lounge. The breakfast bar there is well executed. BTW, the house coffee is Starbucks.

This is my third visit to this property, and I'll be back again!

  • Historic Hotel

Stayed at the Union Station Hilton for the tenth time or so and was again mostly happy. Great clock tower room provided. Good breakfast buffet. Only complaint is that every time that I stay here there is a huge event in the Grand Hall and you are not allowed to make use of the best part of the hotel. Have complained many times to no avail as the hotel values the revenue from events over guests. Not much in the immediate area that you can walk too.

  • What a Great Surprise!

    by PapaT0ny on 2018-05-22 01:35 pm

This was my first trip to Saint Louis and happened to be the same weekend every college and university in town was having their graduation exercises. I call it a surprise because it was one of the only hotels I could get into. A delightful surprise.

The lobby and public areas are in the old train station which has been incredibly restored and preserved. The space is full of art and history. Be sure to walk out of the lobby, past the restaurant, to the areas reserved for meetings and banquets. The old staircases and balcony are dressed with antiques and artifacts. The lobby bar is a great place to sip your drink and take it all in.

The main hotel area consists of two newly constructed buildings on the site where long ago people would board their trains for Chicago, New York, or the West Coast. The enormity of the site reminds you of the many trains that would come and go daily. This area also contains 2 restaurants, a large coy pond, and an aquarium that is under construction.

One of the best things about this hotel is that the metro train from the airport stops right behind it. The 25 minute ride from the airport cost me $2!! Once here both the Arch and the University of Saint Louis are within walking distance.

The only warning I would have is because the hotel is quite large one ends up walking a lot. This could be a problem for the elderly or persons with some handicaps.

  • Great Hotel and Location

This is a great hotel to stay at, especially for its historic value, architecture, and location. The lobby/bar area is especially enjoyable, and the decoration with the golden age of train travel photos, posters, etc., are so interesting. I wish I could still be getting the trains here!

In addition, the staff is very pleasant and helpful. I've stayed here a number of times, and each time I enjoy it more.

  • Wonderful Hotel

We stayed here for three nights while in town for a graduation. The hotel is lovely with historic common spaces and modern rooms. Every staff person we interacted with was cheerful and helpful. We loved the light show in the grand hall. Breakfast was excellent. We will definitely stay here again.
