location was good, lots of restaurants within walking distance, they have made some nice updates to rooms in this vintage hotel; front staff was very friendly and helpful; location was very centrally located to other places we wanted to go

Wish we could have stayed longer to try the resturants in the hotel but next time we will have to make the time although did not know we was going to be held an extra $100 for our stay also didn't know we have to pay to parking but over all we enjoyed our stay everyone was nice and made us feel welcome

Came through Mobile to visit a friend. We were staying at the hotel next door. We walked by the corner bar while we were walking on government street. Paul the bartender was awesome. He talked us into trying this beer from Fairhope. He then mentioned the lamb lollipops. They were the best lamb appetizer I've ever had.

  • Stay at the Hampton Inn

We stayed here after getting a mystery deal through Priceline for a 4 star hotel. We were really excited, and thought it'd be great. It looked very nice and had great reviews. We thought we had gotten a good deal.

When we saw the building outside, we suspected it might not be as great as we imagined. The parking is $15 in a city lot behind the hotel. When we walked in the lobby, it was hot and crowded. There didn't seem to be enough staff or was just not going fast enough. It took a while to check-in. Then, only one elevator was working, and we were on the 8th floor. The elevator was really hot and only fit 8 people. It was not pleasant. Even the bell boy complained.

The air conditioning in the room was really loud, but the room got instantly hot and humid without it. The toilets didn't flush well. The coffee keurig only had one coffee pod. It had two decaf and one tea, but there were two of us and we both wanted regular coffee. The decorations are very nice. It was definitely cute, but that's about it. I'd have preferred they spent the decorating budget on other things. The views are of the walls of the buildings next door.

When we went to breakfast, a $14 buffet, the glasses on our table were dirty. When we asked for ones without lipstick and brown stains, the woman glared at us. I thought she'd break the glasses when she angrily grabbed them and went off. We decided not to eat there and left.

This was not a 4-star hotel experience and not a hotel I'd stay at again, especially not for the price they normally charge. I hope they are just still in the process of major renovations because it could be a really cute, historic hotel in the center.

We had stayed the night before at the Hampton Inn and it was much nicer. Our room had a great view of the park and river. The breakfast was great. I'd rather stay there.

Friendly staff and great accommodations in a location that is close to everything in downtown Mobile. Really enjoyed the ability to walk to many of the sights and restaurants in the area. Highly recommend!
