Groups looking for a way to combine work and play on their next conference or retreat need look no further than Yosemite National Park and The Ahwahnee, where group service coordinators can help plan everything from morning meetings to guided or individual activities including historic hotel tours, snowshoe walks, sightseeing tours and ski trips.
Because of Yosemite’s relatively remote location, many executives and conference planners are surprised to find the Park’s meeting spaces have all the technological bells and whistles found in city hotels. In 2004 and early 2005, the meeting rooms at The Ahwahnee underwent an extensive renovation that included the installation of Wi-Fi Internet services and state-of-the-art presentation equipment, as well as new carpet, paint, executive conference tables and leather chairs.
The Ahwahnee has six meeting rooms that collectively accommodate groups of up to 395 people. They also have a theater capacity of 75, a reception capacity of 200, and a banquet capacity of 50.
As a concessioner operating within a national park, DNC Parks & Resorts at Yosemite takes its stewardship role very seriously. Environmental initiatives are incorporated into nearly every aspect of our business, including the ability to create “green meetings” for interested clients. Below are just a few of the options they provide:
- development of one-of-a-kind organic and sustainable menus for events;
- use of water pitchers rather than individual disposable plastic bottles;
- private shuttle transportation on our bio-diesel buses;
- interpretive presentations on a variety of environmental topics; and
- earth-friendly gift bag items, such as Ahwahnee slate keepsake tiles, recycled cotton t-shirts and sweatshirts, and logo wine items made out of recycled white oak wine barrel components.
