  • Great getaway spot in Charlottesville

    I use to stay at the BoarsHead 30 years ago and it has been upgraded nicely since 1988. What a wonderful and pleasant stay I had on this work occasion. The workout facility was amazing. The food was delicious. And the service was amazing. Can't wait to return for another getaway.

  • Nice stay

    We would go back to the Boars Head after the renovations are complete. The way that the buildings are set reminds me of Williamsburg, VA. Rooms were clean and nice but could stand to be updated. The food at the Racquets needs some help as well as the service. The best part about the Boars Head was the service received at check-in and check-out. You are greeted from the moment you drive up. Everyone during this process was pleasant, friendly and seemed to enjoy their job. The property seemed to also be well cared for.

  • leaky a/c unit

    The a/c unit leaked and caused a soggy carpet and smell. It appeared that all that was done was a fan was set up in my room. I checked in Monday, left Friday and the carpet in front of the unit was still wet. My complaint is the lack of follow up and communication from staff. Also, my safe did not work and again, no follow up. The Boars Head Inn setting is gorgeous and the dining is lovely. Besides my experience, the rooms are nice.

  • A work in progress

    Girls getaway from multiple location. We needed a place with a spa in Charlottesville. The Boar's Head Resort had a spa, and very expensive rooms. But, a spa. So, we decided to go for it. The spa was very nice. They have a 3 for $300 deal that will meet most people's needs. The adults only pool was also nice. Someone had messed up the clarity with soda ash, but the staff was on top of the problem and didn't make the pool unusable, just unsightly. The property is about to emerge from a pricey overall. They chose to redo the public spaces first. So, given the upcoming unveiling, I won't spend time here commenting on Raquets other than to say it's not a good breakfast spot. Now, the rooms. I do hope that phase II is an immediate commencement of room refreshing. The room a/c is incredibly loud. I barely slept the first night. Further, the bathroom fans are not up to the job. I just redid all my bathrooms so I know they make fans that quickly remove moisture from bathrooms. BHR needs to install these asap. Less mold for the maids to clean and easier for guests to get ready without being a damp, humid mess. The decor is also quite dated. Overall, the place reminded me of somewhere elderly people would go. I'm no spring chicken, so that's really dated in my opinion. I may come here again, for the spa. But, I think I'll save some money next time and stay elsewhere.

I can guarantee you that the issues you experienced are not our standard as can be seen by the many many positive reviews. You are correct that we are in the midst of a major renovation of our guest arrival, lobby, and restaurant but that shouldn't affect the small details that goes into our guests stay, like cleanliness of the rooms and public spaces.   • Very nice (just don't look under furniture)!

    We loved our pet friendly room and the location but housekeeping needs to clean under beds and dresser. Our dogs toy went under the dresser and came out unrecognizable covered in so much dust & debris. I would use the word gross forsure. There were also papers under beds and a toy from another dog along with a half eaten dog treat. Not what you expect for the price. Otherwise the room and entire resort was quite nice. Beautiful property.
