The Castle on the Hudson
There are numerous activities within close proximity of the Castle on the Hudson, including horseback riding at the Rockefeller family preserve, local hiking and mountain-biking trails and many scenic drives. History buffs should head into Tarrytown, home of Washington Irving, author of "Rip Van Winkle and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow." Nearby Kykuit has been home to four generations of Rockefellers in Pocantico Hills, and other Hudson Valley historical attractions include the 18th-century Philipsburg Manor and the Union Church of Pocantico Hills with stained-glass windows by Marc Chagall and Henri Matisse. Lyndhurst, a National Trust for Historic Preservation site, is in nearby Irvington.
