For my husband and me, the Colony was the perfect place for our first trip to Maine. Its location in Kennebunkport was close enough to shops and restaurants to walk (we like to walk). It is an old hotel, neat as a pin and largely not updated. We had a king room which was comfortably sized and overlooked the ocean, though the bathroom was tiny. (Who cares.) Other rooms we saw are smallish, but the off season pricing made it comfortable for us to go for a big room. Staff were attentive and the bar downstairs was cozy and old fashioned. There is just something about this place. Something about sitting on the wide veranda with a book overlooking the beautiful grounds and the ocean. Walking down Ocean Avenue to look at the houses. Taking a nap in our cheery room in the middle of the afternoon. Loved every minute.

Wonderful hotel on a hill overlooking the Atlantic ocean. Such a beautiful setting play crochet or swim in the pool. You also have ocean access on a very nice beach. The restaurant is a good variety of cuisine. The king size bed and room were very comfortable.

  • Beautiful hotel

We stayed at the Colony Hotel two nights in October. This is a Grand old hotel. The grounds are beautiful with a putting green, heated salt water pool and breathtaking views of the Maine coastline. We had lunch in the Mariner Grille which was fabulous. We were very fortunate to have weather close to 80. People were sunbathing and swimming in the 83 degree pool. Rooms were very large, king bed, ocean view. Breakfast buffet was included and very delicious. Will definitely stay there again.

  • Beautiful old hotel, on national register, look at the old growth fir floors in the lobby

wonderful time, older hotel so rooms are small but the staff is great, breakfast included is fresh, filling, Walk the wide hallways and pay special attention to the old grow fir flooring in the lobby. Everything is updated but you can still see evidence of the old transom windows. Note the extra wide hallways. Walk up the coast for some water exposure or into town for the shopping.
    Quaint town.
Would recommend shoulder or late fall to avoid the crowds. Hotel closed last weekend of October. The last weekend is usually reserved for dog lovers. We don't have a dog but enjoyed everyone else's dogs.

  • Great Inn

We stayed here for a couple of days. Awesome facility. Staff is excellent, well informed and very welcoming. Walking distance to a great eating facility if you opt to not eat in the excellent restaurant at the Inn. They offer a heated sea water pool also. Breakfast is fantastic. This is a Top of the line facility.
