    The hotel is a beautiful property located on the ocean and stretches to the bay. The pools, beach, tiki bar, hotel bars and restaurants were all great. The hotel staff was always attentive and courteous. It is always my first choice when I am in San Juan.

    We were there before and during the hurricane where we were well taken care of.
    The problems started after the hurricane and we were dumped by the Condado plaza Hilton
    We were shocked and startled at the treatment we received from the management of both properties.
    It started when the hurricane was over and the generators failed. I believe they had a plan to deal with guests that included those backup generators and once they failed everything fell apart. We were coerced in moving to the other property the Caribe Hilton with the promise of rooms (never happened). They had rooms but booking was closed that night. They were never an option.
    When my wife first asked about options and our willingness to pay for another room she was scolded by numerous employees and we were told we were lucky and should be grateful to be alive and have a place to sleep.
    Several of the employees were defensive and even combative when asked for updates.
    We were basically kicked out of our rooms and then they still charged me an upgraded room fee when we spent one night in the room and then were moved twice.
    There were a few good employees but they were overshadowed by the bad.
    We will be back to Puerto Rico but I will never stay here again.

  • Very nice, central location

    This hotel was not far from the airport and in a pretty central location - just a short taxi ride away from Old San Juan. We were in a large, well appointed room with a balcony and great views of the ocean. Our bed was comfy and the air conditioning worked very well. The balcony was nice and spacious - a good spot to just sit with a cup of coffee and enjoy the ocean. The bathroom was huge - plenty of space with a really nice shower. Location was great for walking to many local spots to eat, and lots of shopping. Several restaurants on site as well. The pool areas were really nice, also the grounds were well kept. A neat feature was hammocks along the ocean. Super relaxing. There was a restaurant area right near the pools so that was convenient. A huge plus was the private beach. There is a guard to make sure people dont come in off of the beach, and they have lounge chairs and umbrellas available for a small fee. You could also rent snorkels and masks, and head out into a closed off section which was safe for snorkeling. Very cool. Looking forward to coming back with my kids!

    The hotel and location is great. A few hiccups at check in but that was the fault of But the first person at front desk was quite a miserable women! who was not really interested in our problem. Then we went gain to speak to another man who was the manager and he was lovely and helped us. So we got our room but it was on the other side of the road! so you had to cross the overhead walkway to get there! Then the place where you have breakfast was weird!! Never in all my years of travel was I told that if i wanted an extra teabag in my tea, i would have to pay! The person that greets you is happy and cheerful but when you get in the staff are like they don't want to be there. They have a Dennys diner attached to this hotel which i will write a separate review but again service was awful! Also the concierge where you book tours is strange. We wanted to go on a tour but they said we would have to wait and see if the we had 6 people enough to take the tour and we were 4... So we didn't bother as when you only have 2 nights you can't wait around for them to decide if they will go! The swimming pool at the part of hotel we were staying at was not clean. The jacuzzi was not on and lots of leaves it. not maintained. The pool in main hotel was ok and that jacuzzi was great!

    This hotel has a beautiful lobby, easy check in and wonderful doorman assistance with luggage and taxi service. There are hammocks, lawn chess, beautiful pool and hot tub along side outdoor dining with beach access of the waterway to the ocean. Rentals are available for snorkeling and paddle boarding.
    SO HERE IS OUR STORY: We were to leave on the 7th of September to arrive in Puerto Rico and stay 2 nights in the penthouse of the Condado Plaza Hilton before boarding a cruise with Royal Caribbean on the 9th. Hurricane Irma had just arrived to San Juan and we were unsure of departing from Arizona, getting stranded in Charlotte NC as it had been reported the airport in San Juan had closed. The Condado acknowledged the risk of arriving in the midst of Hurricane Irma and allowed us to cancel our reservation, refunding all to us. American Airlines moved our tickets to the 9th of September with no fees, assuring us that the San Juan airport was open. We departed Arizona on a 1:00 am flight to San Juan, changing planes in Charlotte, NC and arriving at 2:00 pm in San Juan. We were the second flight in after reopening the airport. Royal Caribbean had reassured us they were sailing on the 9th as planned.
    Wow ! We made it. The taxi's were there and got us to the dock and we boarded our ship "The Adventure of the Sea". We had a wonderful time, so the end of the cruise was arriving and we got a message from American Airline that they had canceled our flight on the 16th, which changed planes in Miami on the return flight to Arizona. Hurricane Irma had made a mess of things in Florida. There would be nothing available till Monday morning. To make this long story a little shorter....We called the Condado Plaza Hilton and they were able to accommodate us on the 10th floor. We were told Hurricane Irma had blown out the window of the Penthouse room we were to occupy at that time. We had a wonderful time staying there. What a pleasure in all respects. The staff, the hotel and associated restaurants. We even did a scuba dive on Sunday at the Caribe Hilton before leaving Monday morning. In concern for our safety we were asked if we were going to be there with the onset of Maria and we were able to reply that we would be leaving..
    To all the employees of the hotel and their families, it is hard to express the concern for their welfare after such a devastating event as Hurricane Maria. We feel fortunate and blessed to have been able to enjoy this beautiful Hotel and island
