  • Best place to stay for downtown activities

    by marygreen b on 2018-02-18 09:00 am

We love staying at the Dunhill when attending Charlotte's plentiful cultural activities. You can walk out of the front door of the beautiful, historic hotel, and you are just steps away from some great restaurants on your way to the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, Knight Theatre and other concert destinations. No parking, no fuss. The hotel has a wonderful lobby bar where you can enjoy cocktails post concert. The Asbury Restaurant serves a delightful breakfast/brunch that features traditional as well as nouvelle cuisine that we love.

  • Lovely Stay!

by abkarroubi on 2018-02-11 03:45 pm

We live this charming and historic hotel, which is within easy walking distance of many cultural events, including concerts, plays, Discovery Center, etc... this staff is genuinely welcoming, thoughtful, and friendly. The rooms are a bit dark but are well appointed with bathrobes, fridge, Keurig coffee maker with pods and creamers, and even an UMBRELLA hanging in the closet for guest use and option to purchase! The bathrooms are roomy and have marble floors and vanities. This hotel has only a few rooms on each floor, and it is quiet except for the occasional loud traffic or siren during the night. Higher up rooms or on the back side would be recommended. The complimentary breakfast in the morning included both hot and cold items and hot the spot. We recommend The Dunhill without hesitation. It's a pleasure to stay in a hotel with ambience and character.

  • Excellent Service, from Beginning to End

    by Aja W on 2018-02-07 04:10 am

We arrived at The Dunhill Hotel, and the front desk staff were immediately helpful and pleasant. We were asked the reason for our visit, which was our wedding anniversary. They congratulated us and offered us a choice of a complimentary champagne toast or dessert. Throughout our time, we were greeted by the staff by name & asked how our stay/visit was going. The bar staff was also very helpful with a faulty wine bottle we brought with us. The complimentary breakfast was also nice and offered a nice window seat view of the city of Charlotte. While checking out, both the housekeeping staff & the front desk staff asked how our stay went and offered us to come back. If we ever do an extended trip again in Charlotte, The Dunhill Hotel will be at the top of our list!

  • Classic Charm

    by Gary A on 2018-02-06 11:33 am

Charlotte has grown tremendously since I grew up there in the 70's and 80's, and there are many lodging options uptown and the surrounding area. But for my money, I love staying at the classic and beautiful Dunhill. The hotel has everything you expect from a modern upscale experience, but also provides the one thing Charlotte is in short supply of - historical perspective. The city is young in its elevation as a major city, but its history goes deep back to very origins of America, and the Dunhill lands in the early 20th century portion of that long story. This is an important piece of the fabric of glistening uptown, and it's my first choice when I have reason to be there.

The staff are warm and hospitable, the ambiance is fantastic, and the rooms are lovely and special. Staying at the Dunhill is an experience, not just a nice bed, and isn't that what separates the good from the great?

  • Charm, Comfort, Convenient

    by Comanchero26 on 2018-02-04 11:12 am

Built in 1929, this is a lovely property. Within a block of the Blumenthal Theater, this "old world charm" is our place to stay when going to the theater. The Asbury Restaurant is located across from the lobby bar and offers a bountiful menu. We chose the fried oyster hors d'oeuvres, the deviled eggs, and roasted Brussel sprouts...served tapas style... while we enjoyed cocktails prior to leaving for the Blumenthal. For convenience, The Capitol Grill is less than a block away...outstanding steaks, reminiscent of the Pennsylvania Avenue location. Our corner room was very comfortable and ideally located for great city views. Amenities included robes...nice touch! Valet parking is offered. One must drive around to the side for the valet. We waited an inordinate amount of time...almost 15 minuets...before the valet arrived. The was no offer of help for our luggage...a negative reflection! The complementary breakfast is a full breakfast with eggs, bacon, assorted English muffins and bagels. Oatmeal and yogurt are also available. Overall, a nice experience. By the way, the departure valet was superior to our arrival experience!
