  • The Edgewater in Madison

    by Ailee M on 2017-11-08 08:15 am

Parking was easy in the hotel parking ramp. The room was very clean. We went to dinner in the restaurant and we had great service...the next morning we had breakfast in the same restaurant and had excellent service again. The only thing I would change is the reservations. When you make reservations they are "off site" so if you need to make a change they cannot always help you. But all worked out just perfectly and next year when I need to stay in Madison again I will stay here at this hotel.

  • A first class hotel, perfect for our short stay

    by rblumen1 on 2017-11-07 07:37 am

Arrived on Sunday for a one night's stay and were delighted with everything the hotel offers.
Our room was large well appointed and had a spectacular view of the lake.
The service was friendly, efficient and top notch quality.
We would highly recommend it as the place to stay when in Madison.

  • Stayed for a wedding â loved it!

    by Rachael J on 2017-11-05 05:23 pm

We had a great stay at the Edgewater! Our first floor room was so close to the water, it almost felt like we were on a boat & we could hear gentle waves at night. Concierge Eileen was especially lovely about making sure we had everything we needed (down to hand delivering plates and silverware so we could heat and enjoy leftovers from another meal). Her enthusiasm for Madison was lots of fun too. This is a great place -- very comfortable, unique views and a nice sense of local character. It's of course also easy to walk to state street and the UW campus from here.

One heads up -- my mom had trouble finding the hotek because the restaurant name (Statehouse) was easier to spot than the name of the hotel. Once you find it though, you may not want to leave :-)

  • Beautiful spot for a romantic getaway

    by Camille S on 2017-10-28 11:55 am

We had a delightful night at the Edgewater in Madison as part of our Honeymoon in the USA. The room we stayed in had a fabulous lake view, exquisite amenities and nice sheets and towels. The bottle of champagne for our Honeymoon was a nice touch although not expected. All in all a great experience and would stay there again. A little pricy but you get what you pay for with the view!

  • Lakeside Luxury

    by Aaron G on 2017-10-18 05:36 pm

We've been coming to the Edgewater for years and they definitely will give you lakeside luxury. It's probably the finest hotel in Madison and they've benefited from a recent complete renovation. However, there were a few shortcomings on our last stay.

-The hotel is historic and beautiful. The original Langdon tower has a bit of a nautical feel with porthole windows. The new building reflects the old style but brings a more updated vibe.
-Reservation process was very easy. We called and Jenna was very friendly and competently took care of us.
-We came in for a Badgers football game. We understand that this is one of the busier weekends. But the pricing did seem a bit ridiculous. Normally a king room is around $200/night. Our rate was over $500/night. But I guess that's capitalism.
-We did get amazing lake views from our rooms--which is one of the main reasons we love the hotel.
-One of our rooms had no towels. We understand it's just a mistake, but still annoying.
-The spa and gym are great--and they have a wonderful large jacuzzi with waterfall! One big issue however is they close the pool/jacuzzi at 10pm. So you can't really enjoy it at night. This was very disappointing.
-The restaurant has amazing views of Lake Mendota which really adds to your breakfast experience. However, because of the football weekend they only offered a buffet for breakfast. I understand that decision because it gets very busy--but I do prefer to be able to order off the a la carte menu for breakfast.
-We requested a late checkout and were told they unfortunately couldn't accommodate that because of the large amount of people checking in on Sunday. I found this very hard to believe. Everyone was checking OUT after the game weekend. Nobody was checking in! It was a lame line to get guests to leave and not get a late checkout, in my opinion. We had spent over $4000 on 3 rooms and meals during our stay, and this left us with a bad taste in our mouth.

Overall, we still love the hotel and will certainly be back. But we hope they work on some of these issue.

    Owner Response
    Dear Aaron G,

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, it is very much appreciated. I apologize that you experienced a few issues during your visit to The Edgewater. We do often have large business groups checking into the hotel on Sundays for meetings or local trade shows, as such, I'm very sorry that my team was not able to honor your late checkout request.

I would like to speak to you in more detail regarding your concerns so that we may improve our service and amenities. At your convenience can you please call me at 608-535-8200? I look forward to speaking to you and welcoming you to The Edgewater again soon.
